These filters also provide effective and efficient cleaning which sand filters fail to provide as they allow minute particles of impurities to pass through.

These pool filter cartridges also need to be maintained and cleaned adequately especially if one notices a sudden decrease in the filter pressure. This decrease in filter pressure is caused by clogging in the filter and to get rid of clogging one needs to rinse the filter thoroughly with a garden hose. This practice is known as backwashing and should be carried out after every 2 weeks. It should also be kept in mind that only slight pressure should be applied while backwashing a cartridge as too much pressure will cause the dirt to settle inside the cartridge permanently. To cleanse the cartridge properly, one can soak it in non-foaming solutions and scrub it lightly with a brush, these solutions are available in various stores and it is important to note that these can’t be replaced by washing detergents.
