4. Statue of Grgur Ninski

Set aside some time to admire the statue of Grgur Ninski. Grgur Ninski was a bishop who lived in the 10th century. He is a hero and icon in Croatian culture, as his bravery and actions were key in the development of Croatian national identity.

5. Salona

Consider renting a car while in Split and enjoying a day trip to Salona. Only 8.4 km away from Split, Salona offers fascinating Roman remains that you’ll want to see.  Make sure to include this location on your trip itinerary.

6. Biokovo

Biokovo is found a 132.3 km drive away from Split. This destination offers beautiful views and is the perfect place for hiking enthusiasts. There are at least three dozen hiking trials available in this location.

7. Trogir

A 28.4 km drive from Split will bring you to Trogir. Trogir is comprised of an area of mainland, an island called Trogir, and an island called Ciovo.

The island of Trogir features wonderful medieval architecture that you’ll want to see if you’re a history enthusiast. The island of Ciovo has two marinas that many enjoy. If churches interest you, make time to see the centuries-old cathedral.

8. Hvar

Hvar is reached by water and is 60.6 km away from Split. This location is the perfect day trip choice for those who love the good life. There are lots of opportunities for fine dining, and Hvar is popular with wealthy and famous people.

This is a beautiful destination, so you might want to splurge and stay there overnight in one of its lovely hotels.
