Singaporean cuisine is as ethnically diverse as its people, blending Chinese, Indian, Indonesian, Malay and western influences and a visit to one of the shopping mall food courts or hawker centers will be as eye-opening as gastronomically pleasing.

1. Hainanese Chicken Rice
It is one of the Singaporean’s iconic dishes as this all-time favorite dish makes for a quick and fulfilling lunch. In this dish, steamed chick is served with rice cooked in chicken stock and the quality of chicken is important for this dish and you can tell by the steamed rice oozing with flavor and the fragment aroma and there is some dipping sauce over the chicken to give it a go.

2. Chilli Crab
The crabs are cooked in semi-thick gravy with a tomato chili base and the steamed crabs are partially cracked then lightly fried in a paste compromising of ketchup, chili sauce, and eggs. Regardless of its name, this dish isn’t all that spicy. 

3. Laksa
This dish comprises of rice noodle in spicy coconut curry soup with shrimp, fish cakes, chicken meats, and eggs- a cross between Chinese and Malay Cuisine. Laksa has also many variants, but one of them in Singapore is Katong Laksa with cut-up noodles and the cockles and tofu puffs are sometimes added.

4. Char Kuay Teow
In this dish, broad white noodles are fried with black soya sauce, fish cake, beans sprouts, clams, and Chinese sausage. You will easily find this dish in hawker centers and restaurants and a skilled chef will add a smoky taste to the dish by cooking the noodles at high temperature.

5. Hokkien Prawn Mee
it is also one of the best Singaporean dishes and this includes stir-fries Hokkien noodles with prawns, squid, fish cake and slices of chicken or pork seasoned with soya sauce, vinegar, and chili. To tone down the oily taste, each serving comes with sambal sauce. 

6. Barbecued Stingray
Barbecued stingray has become a popular seafood dish in Singapore that is served at hawker stalls. In this dish there is stingray meat salted in thick sambal sauce and a spicy condiment with diced tomatoes, chilies and shrimp paste as base ingredients, then wrapped in a banana leaf to be cooked slowly on a grill.

7. Fish Head Curry
To make this dish, a huge fish head and vegetables are cooked in curry and served with rice or bread. The origin of this food is in South India, with Chinese and Malay influences. Sometimes, tamarind juice is added to give a sweet-sour taste.
