7 Ideas to Celebrate the Valentine’s Day

by Candice Larson Do your best!

According to a legend, Valentine's Day sets back to around 3rd century in Europe. The legend's love and affection has been carried on throughout history. February 14th is the day to spread the love and exchange affectionate gifts to one another.

Here are some ideas on how to celebrate this love day:

Give red roses

A bouquet of roses also says “I love you”. Express your words with a rose. Red roses are one of the most popular Valentine’s Day flowers as it expresses and emphasizes beauty and love. Red roses are traditionally exchanged by couples and people whom wish to express their feelings towards another.

Pizza and Netflix date night

This is a modern-day low-key dinner and movie date for couples. Grab a beer or wine, order in from your favourite pizza joint, and get ready to press play your favourite movies and series on Netflix. Going to the movies lacks the ability to press pause. Netflix-ing in the early stages of courting allows you stop any program at any point to ask all those getting-to-know-you questions as soon as they pop in to your head.

A fireside picnic

Have the sofa pulled up in front of a roaring fire and some champagne on ice. If you are the cooking type, make a home-cooked Valentine's Day meal. If not, order out from your favourite place, but be sure to ditch the containers and re-plate the meal elegantly on nice plates. For additional touch, play all your favourite songs on the background. Another suggestion would be write a love letter that you can read by the fire, or have a book of love poetry ready.

Consider the classic chocolate gift-giving

Chocolate is a classic gift during Valentine’s Day just like red roses. It is a fact that chocolate has a batting average of about 1.000 when it comes as a present, so why not turn the entire day into one, long sweet gift? If you are getting something for your sweetheart, get a small box of those sugary hearts with the little sayings on them. Another option is get their favourite chocolate brand along with a couple of sweet treats such as cookies and cupcakes.

Cook homemade meals

Surprise your loved one with an affordable breakfast in bed or create a scrumptious dinner dish with your partner, in the comfort of your own home. Visit Pinterest or some online magazine for some fun and easy ideas.

Visit a new place together

Here’s one of the most beautiful new relationship gift ideas, that you can give your partner this Valentine’s Day. While every other couple would go out for a Valentine dinner in an overpriced restaurant, choose to explore a new place together. Walk around while holding hands, know each other more, stumble upon a new restaurant, and strengthen your bond.

Volunteer

Use Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to give back. Choose a charity with your significant other and plan to spend the day together helping out in whatever way you can. Many charities even host special events or fundraisers organized around V-Day. Whether you choose a soup kitchen, animal shelter or community garden, the experience is sure to make you feel more connected with both your partner and your fellow man.
