6 Urban Environmental Elements That Can Teach You Marketing

by Otoabasi Umonting Social Media Consultant

Hi there,

how's the going? I hope all's moving well. It's great to have you here today. I'm going to share an interesting observation with you.

We often hear that the environment we find ourselves in can affect the way we live, think and communicate. I don't know about you, but that had always been the case with me, until I decided to find out why it was so.

If you pay close attention you will realize that you're constantly in contact with these six elements.

1. Sound:

This is the first thing you often notice in any given environment. There's always some sort of sound coming out from somewhere. It's not necessarily human or mechanical sound alone, but the whistling of trees and the chirping of birds apply here. Now, how does this apply to marketing? In business, you have to create some sort of buzz; without that, you won't get noticed.

One thing you also have to know is this: the buzz you create can either make you or break you. So, how do you balance this? Observe how people operate online; what they are doing, how people are responding to them, and so on. Then start slowly to make yourself known. Post your blogs, videos and quotes on social media; get interactive on forums and groups. People will start noticing you via your activities... that's your buzz!

2. People:

This is what makes an environment what it is. An inhabitable environment is usually counted as a "creepy" place. Not trying to sound spooky here though. Anyways, people play a major role in shaping any given environment, and without them, there'll be no productivity.

So, applying this to marketing; we need people in order to move forward. Without people, we will be operating in a desert and expecting to have water break forth. People here can fall into various categories like...

Exactly the point @Umonting. As listen the others what they say about you and if negative then do not avoid it but try to turn it into the positive one. That is the best winning you ever get!
And also satisfy people's needs what they want and try to solve their problems.

@Umonting but what people says that matters more for us as the business firm. As we as the publisher need people , people do not need us as they have many other option unlike us. So what they speak that must be matter for us. As by valuing to their reply we have to be the positive and has to try to provide the best as we can. And if we ignore the people then they start to ignore us.

@ Manali: I agree when you say "...if we ignore people, then they will start to ignore us". If we are not adding value to people, they will not look at what we are offering. People are very important when it comes to business, and when we ignore that fact, we will find it hard to really climb to the level we desire to get to.
