  • Silk and Acetate Satin robes

These robes should be dry- cleaned. The silk and acetate fibers are extremely delicate thus machine or hand washing can break the materials easily thereby deforming the appearance of satin robes. Professional dry cleaners should be hired to take care of these robes when they get stained.

  • Stains

Stains on satin robes must be removed as soon as they happen. The exact spot needs to be treated with a stain remover before the robe is washed. For blood stains, the robe should be soaked in cold water and then a stain remover applied bit bleaching stain removers should be avoided.

  • Washing Cycle

A satin robe needs to be turned inside out before hand washing it in lukewarm water and a soft detergent. Soaking is allowed for 3-5 minutes and the suds are squeezed gently and then cool or cold water is used for rinsing. Twisting or wringing satin robe can lead to the deformed shape. If machine washing is applied, then, a dry cycle should be chosen. Under no circumstance should satin robes be washed in hot water. Hot cycles cause shrinkage of satin by 10-20 percent.

  • Drying

Do not place the robes in a dryer. Air- drying is the best way to dry satin robes. After washing, the robe is squeezed using a thick towel. Another dry towel is spread so that the robe is spread on top to allow for drying. It may be dried outside in the sun but out of direct sunlight to prevent fading. The best way is to let satin robes dry naturally.

  • Ironing

If necessary, satin robes may be ironed. Direct ironing is not recommended and a protective material should be placed on top of the robe while the iron set to the lowest heat possible. Steam should not be used when ironing a satin robe.

  • Storage

The best condition to store satin is a cool ambiance far from sources of heat. The wardrobes for storing satin robes should be away from sunlight or radiators. If satin is exposed to heat, the quality diminishes as fibers are destroyed. Alternatively, satin robes can be stored in airtight containers and placed in cool and dark locations.

Satin robes for bridesmaids are soft and durable clothing. Their durability and care methods vary significantly. Bridesmaids should therefore be keen on instructions provided by designers to understand the correct cleaning and care techniques.
