5 Ways to Kick-start Your Day

by Brian W. Writer

For many of us, mornings can be hectic – whether it’s sorting the kids out for school or organising yourself for a busy day ahead at work. Here are five simple ways to get your day off to a good start:

Stretches

Get your morning off to a good start with some simple yoga stretches as soon as you get out of bed. You don’t have to go to yoga classes to be able to do morning stretches; there are numerous videos that can safely teach you the basics. Combining a number of breathing, stretching and meditation moves has health benefits and also helps with stress management.

Warm Water & Lemon

A mug of warm water and lemon has numerous benefits including: aiding digestion, improving mineral absorption and detoxifying your body. Always use fresh lemons, organic ones if possible, not lemon juice from a bottle. Squeeze the juice from half a lemon into warm, not boiling hot, water. Drinking warm water and lemon also helps to boost your energy levels which in turn enhances your mood.

Fresh Air

This will depend on how much time you have in the morning. If you’ve got time to go for a brisk walk or light jog then that’s great. If you are restricted on time, then awaken your senses by simply opening the windows a little to let in fresh air. Letting natural light in by opening curtains or blinds as soon as you wake up will help to make you feel more awake.

Diary/To-Do List

Jotting down what’s on your mind in a diary or to-do list can help get you organised when you’ve got a lot on your mind. Taking a couple of minutes to reflect on the previous day can help you focus on what you plan to achieve during the day ahead. With a to-do list, you will also feel satisfied at the end of the day once you’ve ticked off a number of items.

Nutritional Breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, we all know that. It’s the first thing we put in our bodies, which fuels us for the day ahead. This doesn’t mean the biggest breakfast imaginably possible, but a nutritional breakfast, for example: granola with natural yoghurt, porridge with berries (which are high in antioxidants) or an omelette. When buying cereal, be sure to check the sugar content first. If you’re opting for toast, choose wholemeal bread rather than white.

How do you start your mornings? Do you have a regular morning routine? If you would like to learn more about any of the above then you should consider enrolling on a course with Premier Training (www.premierglobal.co.uk). They have a number of fitness and nutrition courses for you to choose from.
