But by using two-factor authentication, you can ensure that no one except you can access your Dropbox account. To use two-factor authentication on Dropbox:

  1. Login to your Dropbox user account.
  2. Now tap on your profile picture.

Use LAN Sync

Most of us use multiple devices with our internet connection, and if all the connected devices try to sync their data to the Dropbox, then this may consume lots of bandwidth. However, you can solve this problem by activating the “LAN Sync” feature of the Dropbox. This ensures that all the connected devices to the same internet connection and Dropbox user account share files with each other so that you don’t end up downloading the same file multiple times from your Dropbox user account. To activate the “LAN Sync” feature:

  1. Right-click on the Dropbox icon which is located in the notification area of your system.
  2. Now tap on the gear icon.
  3. After that, click on the “Choose preferences” option.
  4. Now tap on the “Bandwidth” tab.
  5. Next, select the “Enable LAN Sync” option from the “LAN Sync” section.
  6. You have successfully enabled the “Lan Sync” feature on the Dropbox.

Use Selective Syncing

By default, Dropbox syncs each and every folder. Yes, it might not be a big issue for people with big data plans. But if you are someone that has a limited data plan and want only specific folders on his device, then this default setting of Dropbox may not be useful to you. However, you can easily solve this problem using the “Selective Sync” feature of Dropbox. To do this:

  1. Right-click on the Dropbox icon which is located in the notification area of your system.
  2. Now tap on the gear icon.
  3. After that, click on the “Choose preferences” option.
  4. Now click on the “Sync” tab.
  5. Next tap on the “Selective Sync” button.
  6. Now remove the checkmark near all the folders and files that you don’t want to sync, and these files or folders will not be sync and downloaded on your device.

Make Important Files “Available Offline” on Your Mobile

By default, Dropbox does not download any file to your device. It only shows you your files in it. Therefore, if you have an important file on it, then make sure you download it for offline use. To download your file:

  1. Click on the three dots icon (Near “Any file” option).
  2. Now click on the “Make available Offline” option to download your file for offline use.

Note: It’s a paid feature so if you don’t have a paid account you won’t be able to use this feature.
