5 steps to find the ideal job

The use of your dreams exists, although it is not exactly where you get paid more, experts say; Job satisfaction includes meeting a higher goal and involves knowing yourself.

When a Mexican is asked what he needs to be happy at work, the answer is linked to salary and schedule flexibility, according to human resources specialists. But is that enough to have the ideal job?

Only three out of 10 professionals consider having the perfect job, the rest gives a resounding no to this idea, according to a survey by the firm Monster among its users in Latin America and the United States.

Reaching the ideal job is possible, if it is clear that job satisfaction is not only related to the salary level. "The biggest problem is that people invest little time in knowing each other and knowing what functions and even the philosophy of an organization, they adjust to what they want as a career", explained the industrial psychologist for the UNAM, Eugenia Franco.

How to get to the desired job? These points help in that goal, according to the specialists:

1. Who are you, what do you want! The first step is self-knowledge. It will help you to answer questions such as: where I am unemployed, where I want to go, what is most valuable in the professional field, where are my dreams, what tools do I have to reach them, what do I need to know or improve? It is not enough to have high motivation to reach a goal, it is also important to have the skills to do it and that requires preparation.

2. How much do you know about the market? It is necessary to make a list of companies that could better respond to the work goal that you have in mind. If there is no certainty, an alternative is to start making a career in service organizations, foundations or non-profit associations, because in those jobs there is greater flexibility to rotate through different areas and carry out, from the beginning, several functions without "getting married" to an assignment. This way you can identify which one you would like to make a career in.

3. Do not limit yourself, ask! Knowing which company is one of your dreams is not enough. You have to investigate and know in depth that place of work: values, vision, objectives, structure, and culture. Not all people are compatible to all cultures.
