SECRET #1 – Domain Mapping

The first thing you want to do is make sure you’re using your own domain.

A lot of times, folks just use the domain name given to them by their platform.

Frankly, that’s not going to get you ranking, at least not quickly.

A Wordpress blogging platform for example might give you a domain that looks like… .wordpress.com.

If you want to rank  your website on Google, you’ll want a custom domain, preferably with your main keywords in the URL.

That way, Google and other search engines recognize your site as an authority, not simply a “blogging” platform.

SECRET #2 – Google Webmaster Tools

Google wants you to rank well on their search engine.

In fact, they HELP you do it!

See, after you’ve mapped your custom domain, the next thing you’ll want to do is add your website to Google Webmaster Tools.

If you don’t know where these tools are, you can simply “Google it” to easily find them.

This is a section dedicated to helping you gather the data, tools, and diagnostics needed to create and maintain Google-friendly websites and mobile apps.

By adding your website’s sitemap in the Webmaster Tools area, you’ll make it easier for Google to find your content and rank it for your keywords.

SECRET #3 – Verify Your Domain

Again, if you want to rank your website on Google, it’s important that you complete this step… you definitely don’t want to skip over it.

SECRET #4 – 404 Errors (IMPORTANT)

This is one of the most common error’s you’ll find online.  

You see, when you get a 404 error in your Google Webmaster Tools, it means when there was a search for your page… nothing came up.

There’s a lot of reasons for something like this.  

It could be because you switched from one web platform to another or maybe one of your URLs was accidentally changed.

The real issue is, people are finding your site in the search engines, clicking on it and nothing is showing up!  

This hurts your credibility and also damages rankings within Google.

Either way, you’ll want to fix these errors as quickly as possible.  
Once you do, you’ll start to notice a resurgence in the traffic to your website or blog.

SECRET #5 – Index Submission

What’s interesting is, most bloggers and website owners don’t ever get indexed on Google.

If you aren’t indexed, you won’t get ranked… and if you don’t rank, you won’t claim all the FREE traffic already searching for you!
