5 Events Not To Miss In Croydon During Summer 2019

by Liz Seyi Digital marketing manager

If your perceptions of Croydon are largely based on its relatively unglamorous past, you really ought to make another visit sometime! The truth in 2019 is that Croydon is now firmly one of the most happening London boroughs.

Indeed, residents of Flats In Croydon like those that constitute the prestigious 20-storey ISLAND tower have a feast of fabulous events to look forward to this summer alone. Here are just a few examples of such events coming up in the locality in the weeks and months to come.

Beginners’ yoga at Matthews Yard

Matthews Yard has established a reputation as one of Croydon’s key arts and creative hubs, although you might not have known that this summer, you can also get to grips with the fascinating practice of yoga on Wednesday evenings. Mats and props are provided; simply visit www.croydonpoweryoga.com to book.

Wimbledon Live 2019

The world’s most famous tennis tournament is also one of those cultural focal points that help us all to feel a little prouder to be British. Befittingly enough, then, Croydon is getting in on the spirit this year with the transformation of the High Street – including a giant screen – for those who would like to experience some of the action in a comfy deck chair or even on a beanbag. There’s no need to book – just turn up from 1st July.

TMRW Sessions ft. The BRITschool

Croydon’s very own BRIT School may have only been founded in the early 1990s, but it’s already become a prolific producer of British musical talent, the likes of Adele, Jessie J and Amy Winehouse having all passed through its doors. On Thursday 11th July, comes your opportunity to experience some of the school’s latest hot talent at the TMRW co-working space; book online now for just a fiver.

Croydon Pride 2019

One of London’s largest pride events is set to make a triumphant return on Saturday 13th July, from 12noon to 10pm at Wandle Park. Expect the best in live music, dance, food and drink, with admission being completely free. As well as the parade and festival, businesses, community groups and charities will be present to promote the astounding work they do in and around Croydon.

Street Live: Busk Stop

Croydon’s immersed in culture, and you can experience some of the finest of it on the High Street, as soon as you’ve finished another working week. Refer to the Check Out Croydon website for the dates of the Busk Stop sessions throughout the summer, so that you don’t miss the chance to hear eclectic sounds from two or three different artists and bands on each occasion.

These are just some of the events looming that demonstrate how Croydon continues to go from strength to strength as a destination in its own right, rather than merely being ‘just another’ London borough.

What’s more, you’ll be especially excellently placed to get up close and personal with this vibrant part of the capital if you purchase or rent one of the few flats in Croydon still available within the highly desirable ISLAND development. So, don’t hesitate to register your interest with us today.
