5 Common Pool Enclosure Styles

by Kevin Smith Author

The addition of an enclosure around your pool provides many advantages. It keeps debris from entering the pool, keeps out unwanted animals, and provides an area to relax without mosquitoes bothering you. But deciding to install a pool enclosure is just the first step. There are several different styles of enclosures from which to choose. The style you prefer will depend on several factors, including the architecture of your home and the surrounding landscape. The following are five common custom pool enclosures for Vero Beach, FL.

Mansard Roof

The most popular style of pool enclosure is undoubtedly the mansard roof. Sloping on all four sides, this style has a flat top. This enclosure is designed to make it appear as though it is more open and that there is more space in the enclosed area, which is a primary reason for its popularity.

Dome Roof

A dome roof enclosure is similar to a mansard roof but the top creates more of a dome than a flat section. This style of enclosure is better at reducing the amount of wind and weathers storms much better, an important asset in Florida. The gentle slope of this design adds an elegance that lacks with the sharp edges of the mansard roof, adding to a home’s curbside appeal.

Gable Roof

Also known as an A-frame roof, a gable roof slopes on each side, leading to a point in the middle, creating a pentagon. This mimics the top of many homes in Florida which allows this style of enclosure to match the architecture to which it’s attached.

Slope Roof

While not as popular as the previously mentioned enclosure styles, a slope roof angles directly away from the home. It doesn’t provide the open feel or space of the larger enclosures but has no flat areas at the top so any debris that falls from trees slides right off.

Hip Roof

A hip roof enclosure has four sides that angle upward, leading to a pointed top. Shaped like a pyramid, the pointed top gives the impression that the enclosure is a bit taller than it actually is. Similar to mansard and dome roof enclosures, this design provides a feeling of openness and, with the sloping sides and point top, is more wind-resistant.

Once you’ve decided to install a pool, you’ll want to enclose it to provide privacy and keep out unwanted guests. If you’re looking to into custom pool enclosures in Vero Beach, FL, these five common styles will help you make your decision.
