4 Tips for Guaranteed Weight Gain -- The Skinny Nerd Manifesto

1) Compound exercises would be your friend -- Up until this point, we have only discussed the weight gain portion. Do the above, and you're going to put on weight. But if you are not also training properly, you'll only be getting fat, and not building muscle!

That's where training comes in!

In this article, we are going to hammer home the 4 biggest points to help you get bigger and more powerful.

2) Protein = building block for your muscles. Chicken, fish, meat, eggs, milk, almonds. Aim for .8-1 g of protein for every pound of bodyweight. You do not need to overdo it with 300+ grams of protein like you'll see in fitness magazines -- they say that so you purchase their protein powders and go through it quickly.

Luckily, you've discovered this site, and I'm here to help.

Focus on being really robust and lifting heavy weights, and the body will follow suit. It isn't important if you can just bench press 10-pound dumbbells right now and cannot perform a single pull-up. Wherever you're starting out, focus on being stronger each and every time you exercise. Push yourself, get stronger, lift more, and before you know it you will be ripped.

If you want to build muscle, you want to consume healthy calories that are packed with good protein, good carbs, healthy fats, and tons of veggies to help provide nutrients and move all that food throughout your internal plumbing...which brings me to my next point.

3) Sleep - You want to be getting at least 7 hours of sleep, but 8-9 hours of sleep each night for maximum gains. Your body is doing nothing but lying there and building muscle while you're sleeping. If you are only getting 6 hours or not, you're not going to receive all the benefits of your exercising and diet. I know it's tough, but those 3 AM raids in WoW or matches in Overwatch will have to wait -- you can come back to them once you get big and strong.

4) Carbs- will be your friend if you need to put on weight -- rice, sweet potatoes, oatmeal, etc. will help you put on weight. You can also consume a great deal of it to get your calorie objectives. You're all set to bulk up, build a muscle, and start feeling better about yourself...but you don't have any freaking clue what you are doing.
