4 Mistakes to Avoid While Building Exhibition Stands

by Mary Rowling Manager

Exhibitions, tradeshows are events when companies intend to showcase their products, services, and business to gain marketing advantage and gain a customer base. But, to make your exhibition impactful, you will require to put in some effort and avoid certain mistakes while planning to design your exhibition stands. Exhibition stand designs plan a crucial role in making your exhibitions successful for you and your business. Flaws are very normal if proper plans are not made beforehand.

Here we will try to understand what are the major mistakes that we should avoid during exhibition stand building.

1.        Poor Layout

Generally, people have got a belief that when they are in an exhibition or tradeshow it is natural for people to visit them and once they get visitors they can easily talk and influence them. So, they don’t need to do much except building four walls and keep a few chairs for the representative to sit. They don’t put in much effort in planning and building the exhibitions stands and booths. This leads to poor stand designs that are unable to attract visitors and even if visitors come, there is no strategy in place to keep them motivated.

Often representatives who are expected to meet people and tell them about the business are products are seen hiding behind desks. They rely too much on the stand displays and marketing materials. Poor layout and untrained staff lead to poor results.

2.      Poor Marketing Materials

Even marketing materials have a role to play in exhibitions and tradeshows. After the impactful presentation that you give to your visitors when they visit you, they would like to open the materials and try to understand and contact you if they need your service. Some visitors attend exhibitions only to collect the marketing materials because they don’t have enough time in hand to attend to every stand in the exhibition. So, they carry the materials, go back to their office or home and then check them one by one. If they find your products and services worthy enough then can contact you for service.

But if you fail to express yourself in your marketing materials properly then even the last hope of generating leads fails. Try to invest time, efforts and also money in making impressive marketing collaterals. Try to keep brochures, hand-outs, flyers, pamphlets, and business cards. And do not forget to hand them out to the visitors. The promotional materials also help your prospects remember you.

3.      Unimpressive Stand Designs and Placement

How your exhibition stand is built, designed and places is a very important factor in making your participation in exhibitions successful. Make sure you book a prominent plot in the hall for your stand else you may not get required visibility. Corners are the best places because you get good visibility. This should be combined with an impressive stand design. Moreover, ensure your stands are well lit, and right color combinations are selected along with impressive design effects that can entice visitors to your stands without any doubt. Try to make them interactive. If your stand has poor lighting, dull color combination and located in an inaccessible plot then you will fail to attract visitors.

4.      Making Wrong Choices

It all starts with choosing the right exhibition. All exhibitions are not meant for all types of businesses. Hence be careful while you plan to participate in exhibitions. If you participate in an exhibition where you do not get your target audience then all the investments that you make will go wasted. List down all the exhibitions right at the beginning of the years that are relevant for your kind of products, services, and business. Always keep your target market and target audience in your mind while planning to participate and then planning the strategies thereafter. Do not always think what you want to showcase, also try to find out what your target audience wants to see. Try to read the mindset of your prospects. Create an environment that is appealing to your potential customers.

Conclusion

To make your exhibition stand Design successful, you will have to put in a lot of effort. Time, money and thoughtfulness to come up with something enticing as well as satisfying too. Ensure your efforts don’t get wasted. Do not try to save money by using poor quality materials. Also, train your staff on time and make the right choices at the right time. If the above few mistakes are avoided while building and designing exhibition stands then a lot can be achieved already.
