3 Vacation Packing Tips!

by Natalie W. Freelance Writer and Researcher

Packing for vacation can be stressful at times and even take away from the excitement of the trip, so we’re here with 3 packing trips to make the process easier and also to make sure that all of your clothes arrive at the destination in the best condition possible so you can simply relax and enjoy your trip! From putting toiletries in an extra bag to protecting delicate items and even vacuum packing, this should significantly help to make your experience much easier no matter where you are heading off on vacation.

Put Your Toiletries In Two Bags

Taking all of your favourite toiletries away with you is always advised, as it helps it to feel like a home from home. However, if anything leaks, it can be an absolute disaster. The last thing you need is to be arriving at your lovely destination, to find that your shampoo bottle got damaged during the journey and ruined your clothes! So, for us, the best tip is to put any toiletries that might leak into two bags. Things like suncream, moisteriser, shaving foam and shampoo should all go into one bag together, and then put that bag into a bin bag and tie the top. This might seem excessive, however it's far too often that people’s toiletries break and some of their clothes end up ruined. So, play it safe and if anything does break during the journey, you will certainly thank us for it!

Save Your Plastic Dry Cleaning Bags

Our next tip is to save your plastic dry cleaning bags! In these bags, you can put anything that is particularly delicate, like cashmere or very delicate clothing like corset tops, and lay it neatly in your suitcase. It will have that bit of extra protection from your other items this way! Or, if you have something that could damage a lot of other clothes, like a really embellished top or sparkly dress, then this could go in the bag to protect the rest of your clothes. You could put a few of these in your suitcase, but just make sure to keep things separate. This could protect your clothes significantly during your trip!

Vacuum Pack

If you’re taking a lot of clothing away with you, or things that are particularly chunky or bulky like lots of jumpers or layers if you’re going skiing, a great thing to do is to vacuum pack! You can get vacuum pack bags that you pack your clothes into, then you use a hoover and suck the excess air out. This reduces space significantly, so is great if you’re short on space. Our only tip is to avoid putting anything that creases really easily into these vacuum packs, it won’t do any damage but just in terms of making sure everything is neat and tidy when you arrive, it can save you needing to get the ironing board out!
