3 Benefits of Being the Designated Driver

by Fusion 360 Studios Digital Marketing Specialists

It’s Friday night, and it’s your turn to be the designated driver. Your friends are all pre-gaming at a house before the bar or party, and they’re waiting on you to pick them up. This is often one of the most dreaded tasks a friend could ever do, but it does not have to be that way.

Many people in Utah and nationwide fail to recognize the fact that drinking is not the most enjoyable part of going out. In fact, it is often nothing more than an inconvenience.

Below are three reasons why being the designated driver can work out in your favor, aside from preventing your friends and others on the road from becoming drunk driving victims.

Save Money

While your friends are busy standing in line to order their fourth round of beers and shots, you can casually cut the line and ask the bartender for a water or soda. A large part of their job is preventing drunk driving victims, so they will gladly give you virgin beverages for free if you mention you are the sober driver.

Playing it Cool

The primary reason most young adults in Utah and across the U.S. hit the town and go drinking is to meet a guy or girl of their interest. There are so many “first impression” stories where somebody approached a prospect when they were way too intoxicated. This is not a good look, and will rarely result in a second chance. Stay sharp and keep your wit by staying sober. In fact, I’m sure the guy or girl of your interest will think it’s attractive that you’re the responsible one in the group.

Leave When You Want

Once people start drinking, they severely limit their mobility. There is nothing worse than being drunk at a bar after it is closed and unable to get a ride home. As the designated sober driver, you have the authority to stay as long as you like, or leave whenever you want.

If you or a loved one are victims or have been injured in a drunk driving accident, contact a personal injury attorney in Utah or a location near you today.
