Cooee, Kooiii!
by Arthur Webster Just plain honestyI'm not sure if this is the right category for this but, here goes.
Having been invited to join Kooiii, I checked out the site and was left wondering if it was a joke.
With little sight of my own, I asked a neighbour to read a couple of posts so that I could get an idea of what it was all about.
Reading white against a black background was uncomfortable for the neighbour but I wondered why the articles that she read were totally incomprehensible - it wasn't that she was misreading words, it was as though the words simply were not there!
Eventually I managed to get her to explain what she was reading and, from what she said, the missing words really were MISSING. It seems that the window in which the articles were displayed were too narrow for the amount of text and two or three words at the end of each line were simply off the page. The horizontal scroll bar allowed the page to be moved across (I view at 1024) but there was no scroll bar for the window.
Does anybody know how to make Kooiii work at a resolution of 1024? Viewing at 1280 makes no difference so maybe the resolution is not critical to the solution.

Monkey in Chief 7 MonkeysAs CEO of Kooiii.com I apologize for your friends issues with displaying the site. The script used is not the best for anyone with vision issues and requiring a low resolution setting on their monitor. You are only the second person to state an issue and we are actively trying to find a balance between the 80% of the world using high resolution machines and the 20% requiring large text and visual aids. Our support desk however is actually a faster place to gain resolve than a 3rd party site not related to Kooiii. We could have addressed this a lot faster than having the article reported to us in this manner. Most of the world will not experience a issue viewing and using all of Kooiii and reading full text on any article. Some users may need to use their browser's zoom out to view full text if the large text we implemented to help the vision impaired does not provide enough help. I welcome you and your friend to stop in and discuss possible solutions in the near future. Andy Anderson CEO Velocity Marketer/ Kooiii May 5th 2011 14:44 |

Monkey in Chief 7 MonkeysNew theme test with no scroll required at 1152x720 for the vision impaired and is in it's best at high resolution where it is crisp, clean, and easy to read despite the smaller text. May 10th 2011 19:26 |

Just plain honestyThe reason I posted my comment here was so that other other people being invited to join Kooiii through Apsense would see my feedback. I did work out that the Kooiii site was designed for people using the wide screens of lap top machines rather than the more rectangular screens of desk tops. Since undergoing surgery I have hopes for some sight recovery and will visit Kooiii again. Jun 28th 2011 12:53 |
