Freelance Work Ethic

by Reginald Crichlow Entrepreneur

More and more highly skilled marketing, business and technology gurus are leaving the workforce to become highly paid freelancers who work for themselves and offer their services to clients all over the world. The key, however, to successful freelancing is a great work ethic that allows freelancers to get their work done in a timely manner and move on to the next client.

When a freelancer first begins offering their services, it?s easy to get wrapped up in submitting proposals. Many find themselves spending more time submitting proposals than completing work because of the fear of not having work in the future. It?s easy to get wrapped up in building a list of clients without realizing that there is already more than enough work to keep you busy for quite some time.

While wanting to get more work is great work ethic, freelancers must focus on getting more work while completing what they already have on their task list. It?s a delicate balance of getting the work done and replacing it with new contracts. For most freelancers, a great work ethic is something that can take months or years to accomplish. It can take some time to figure out how quickly you work when you don?t have a team behind you, don?t have watercooler moments, have kids running around you or an inbox full of useless emails. Once a freelancer has determined what?s important and how they are going to get their work done, they will be able to create a daily schedule around their time and talents.

A freelancer with great work ethic will know their strengths and weaknesses when it comes to time management. Some freelancers find that their income decreases drastically if they get wrapped up in useless social media conversations. Others spend hours reading through useless emails. Those who want to make money in vast amounts will be able to understand that they are better off never logging into their email or social networks until they have accomplished specific tasks for the day. This work ethic allows for the freelancer to remain on task, complete their work, gain new clients and enjoy their personal time online and offline while enjoying success and limitless income.
