Are You Branding Yourself In Social Networks?

by Don Dousharm Entrepreneur, Publisher
I started watching some Youtube videos on how people are marketing on facebook and other social networks like twitter and so on. Everyone has the answer... In truth, the fact is that the real answer is what ever works for you is the correct way.

My suggestion is to take what you hear and see and formulate your own method. It's not an exact science you know. Please don't get me wrong, The information that is flowing from and about these social networks every day is very valuable. What I want to show you today is what information I find valuable and helpful to my success.

The things that I am hearing today tend to be built around branding:
Brand Yourself, Yes it's all about you!

I watched a video today on branding yourself. Anybody can brand a product but in order to sell that product you have to establish where that product came from.
  • Why it is so important to you
  • Why did you choose that product?
  • What does that product do for you?

If people know who you are and trust in what you say as an expert or as a friend, they will be more apt to use the product that you are recomending to help them.

Facebook is awesome for branding yourself!

By using Facebook pages or should I say what was fan pages you can establish yourself. Build a page about you. I mean really establish who you are. This is where you can really build relationships and show people what it is you bring to the table. The people you attract will be your customer base because in reallity these very same people want the same thing you want. This is the reason they liked your fan page to begin with. It doesn't get much more targeted than that.

This information is beneficial to me as I can see where it will be helpful in my day to day marketing. As I am writing this article I am thinking of ideas to practice what I have learned. So in closing I am passing this on to you in hopes you find it as interesting as I.

Great article and very true. I am from Holland and started as a complete nobody in 2010. I started with branding myself by writing articles and comments. It is also very important how you brand yourself. Do some research before you write an article promoting a program. If you are promoting a scam you damage your online presence. Your are also right about being unique by writing your own content promoting a service or product, since there are likely thousands promoting the same of which most copy and paste the content provided by the program. What works for me is to write now and than more personal topics that have nothing to do with marketing; it helps to become a real person instead of just another social site face.

Great Article - Branding yourself is no different than the major corporations in the world - they all brand as well; Ford, GMC, and for that matter even Oprah - who is a person, a corporation and a brand............

@Cindy- It always seems to be those little things that turn out to be the most important. We tent to forget about us and we are key in what we do

@Paula- I like that about writing about things more personal as I tend to think that people don't want to hear about just me sometimes and that is so wrong. You are absolutely right on with that one :-) Thank You!

@Corey- You are so right!!! Branding is personal and we, our companies and anything else is directly affected by what we bring to the table. I lost a 9 to 5 recently and in the letter, the statement that sticks out the most is ("It's Not Personal")! Guess what? Their Logo was attached to that statement and it was personal...

Thanks for your comments all!
