Oh MY, Malware

by Patsy j Payne konnektions konsultant
Long story short, I had one malware, thought a different one was better. It was, years ago, today you couldn't pay me to go back to it.
A few days back, it let one of those nasty security false alerts. First symptom was slow down. Second symptom was it opened numerous IE sites, 10-13. Some would have sound, interfering with attending conferences. Third symptom, YIPES, the false security alert trying to sell you a false security program. Popped up, numerous times. Time after time, very difficult to close.
I contacted a friend (Ted of Free Traffic and Cash) who talked me through going back a few days.
CAUTION: make sure you back up at least weekly. My only backup was 22Oct2010. So I went back to that date.
Lost my Office2010 program as I installed that 14Nov2010. I got the disc and attempted to reinstall. Ooops, error. I called Microsoft. They eventually solved the program, however, we had to delete my STUPENDOUS anti-virus program called Panda.   Panda is so effective it would not let the tech uninstall 2007 which the malware had corrupted.
The malware also corrupted adobe. I'm not sure what else yet.

My suggestion? Use Malware's anti-bytes and an excellent anti-virus. There are several out there. My choice was Kasperky. Nope, Norton had hidden files. I found and deleted all but two. Have to call Norton to delete those two.

I'm using a second choice recommended by a website owner that I highly respect. Top Flight Traffic (Randy Ritter).

I have related the story as it happened to me. Please, run a good anti-virus and malware.
It was not fun transferring files to a flash drive and getting things reinstalled. Also, please backup frequently. I do have Carbonite but we weren't sure it the malware contaminated my Carbonite backup.

Suggestions: Back-up frequently, Use effective malware and anti-virus.
