While you were Sleeping: The Underworld of Midnight Marketing.

by Allison Steinman So Excited to Meet u

The internet may be a marketing dream, but the over-achiever in this industry won't be found asleep on the job. Unlike the working worlds of our parents, cyberspace is a 24/7 opperation. This means the customer never sleeps and opportunity never stops knocking.

After being a relational activity, marketing is a numbers game; the more opportunities you take to push yourself out there, the more opportunities you will have. If half the world is waking up and putting on their business thinking caps just as you are warming your milk, then there goes half of the great connections you could have made, the traffic you could get, and the business you could have done. Nobody wants to build a business on could haves.

On the positive, if you keep your business mind working just a little overtime tonight, you may effectively eliminate your competition, and all while they sleep like babies!

I always think about this! The time difference around the world really is important in marketing online. It's a great idea to work at night too whenever you can.

@genesis: thats exactly why I wrote it! I've always been someone who likes to work into the night; and it just came to me that someone before has had to consider its business potential. (especially my fellow marketers of the night.) Thanks so much for your comments!

I hope you don't mind, Allison, I also used a little number of credits to promote it, not much, just 150 credits for view site campaign,I hope you forgive me.

I just wished to give your article a little push in the right direction. :)

Good, I've chewed up a few if Philippe's credits, but the visit has been worthwhile. Great information. Now I've got an excuse to keep the lantern burning into the small hours. Half the world is waking just as I'm heading offline.
However it can wreak havoc with sleep patterns if you have commitments in the offline world that has fixed time schedules.

Yes, working few hours extra in your night itself an opportunities to open the gate of more opportunities. Many good companies take great advantage of this time difference. Thanks

I am also making long hours. I often have Skype meetings in 3 or 4 in the morning since all my business partners are outside Europe and live in different continents. Therefore I get up a bit later like 11 on some mornings to prevent me from falling apart.

Nice, insight. My sentiments exactly. Because I am currently away from home I am taking advantage of what could be free time and using it to research and grow my businesses... I would never have so much time to play on the internet if I was at home. Ive been up since 3am...

Excellent article. I've always wondered how many leads and opportunities I've missed as I sleep when the other half of the world is wide awake and transacting business. Now I've got a very good excuse to wake up at "odd" hours of the night just to catch some of the "action"

Yes, just as there isn't a recession in online marketing, the internet never sleeps. In fact, one of my groups (no intention to spam) is called Insomnia Marketing. Skype support groups are great for us night owls...When we need a break, pop down to the skype window, maybe share an upbeat music vid, or inspirational/motivational video from youtube and unwind...then back at it. Also, when you have business around the world, I think there's a responsibility to make yourself available to those in your org. from those other time zones.

@Al, I don't quite agree with you, as for the responsibility to your team, if it's for a team chat or a weekly 1-hour webinar, for example, that's ok, but let's not forget why we are in IM : to become financially independent, well at least it's my case, to have more time for my family. I don't think it would be reasonable to ask our family "stay on the sideline for x number of years til I get rich"

The importance of the team stands out here, a team member can fill you in on the most important details if the associates keep talking after you went to bed. Also, using places such as groups here at APSense can be used to post info on the most important points to discuss later on.

Yes--certainly...and we work as a team, and there's always someone to help newbies w/ questions. And maybe it is a personal decision of course--and I'm a night owl by nature--I like to be available personally to people I sponsor in a program. Support and archived webinars are great--Personal real time contact now and again is a priority for me.
