How To Do Business Online

by Karen L. Personal Development
Whether you're a newbie, or a seasoned veteran to marketing online you still have to know how to do business online the correct way in order to run a successful online business. Think of how you would go about doing business offline, and then think of the ways you go about getting people interested in your online business.

Are you missing the vital offline steps when you start your own online business?

How often would you walk up to a random stranger and start shoving an opportunity at them without first introducing yourself, starting a conversation, and finding out if that person would be interested in your product or service? Most likely you don't hound strangers offline, so what makes you think the rules are different in an online business community?

Online marketing is challenging because we have to make decisions about business opportunities based on relationship building,  our instinct, and good investigation to determine if it is something that is legitimate, or if we would actually enjoy doing it.

Online Business Development requires many of the same major activities as starting an offline business. You need a plan, resources, a list of people who are interested in your niche, and outstanding customer service. Add building your brand using social media to the mix also because that is the wave of the future. These strategies are a critical part of how top online businesses are building their brand.

If you're hiding behind your monitor sending random "make big money fast" or "how to make money quick online" messages to just about everyone you encounter on social networks then you will have very limited success with setting up a profitable online business.

If you've been using the social network that way then this article  have already proved this point because you've probably noticed when you hound people after they've added you as a friend, they simply block you from contacting them again, or report you for spamming them.

An even worst scenario is your online reputation, and brand will be tarnished  if those people use their socialnetworking activities to tell others about their negative experience with you. It's not worth it to treat people like robots in an effort to make quick money. Social Networking Trends indicate that doing business on the internet is here to stay, it pays to know where these trends are headed.

Before you start trying to sell anything to anyone online, the best strategy is to get to know that person who just added you as a friend. They may not be interested in what you're peddling but they might know a large group of people who are looking for exactly what you have to offer. Do you think they will share this info with you if you've made yourself a nuisance?

To successfully do a work at home business on the internet, you have to interact with people in a positive way. Put your best self forward - help others solve problems they're experiencing, and add value to your relationship by building trust. Ask questions, and support their online effort by commenting on their articles, adding them to your Google Buzz, liking them on FaceBook, following on Twitter, FriendFeed, Tumblr, LinkedIn etc.

It also helps to read current information like Social Surfing Secrets to stay updated on where trends for any online business system are headed. Be informed, keep your focus on finding the right prospects for your niche, help others as often as you possibly can, and you will get noticed for your positive contributions.

By doing all of these things regularly, you will understand "How To Do Business Online"

"read, understand and digest" are all necessary elements. It reminds me of something we used to recite as kids "the more you read, the more you know, the more you know, the further you'll go" so important.

Karen, you are publishing some great articles, i have been a fan of your writing for some time.
I just hope that people take note of what Blogging is about, they can certainly learn a thing or two from you.

Back to your post, this is the way i like to market as well. First get to know your contacts, their likes and dislikes. I found by getting to know people and rather making friends with them gets me much further in my efforts than by just posting ads all over the show.
Social networking is here and it is here to stay, this is the best thing since sliced bread, maybe even the invention of the wheel. You can actually have fun and expand your friendships all over the world, and at the same time gain followers and potential customers.

Keep these great posts coming, i am having a real good time reading and sharing them. Thanks Karen.

Thank you so much Dawie! I'm humbled by your kind words, thanks.

I only write and share the things that have worked for me, or contain useful information that everyone can benefit from.

Bottom line is people care about you more when you show you care about them... it's in the best interest of anyone marketing online to understand this, especially now that the social networks are going to play a huge role moving forward.

I think it's because people offline understand the concept of NETwork. They build relationships that can be mutually beneficial. Online seems to be nothing more than throw handfuls of mud at the wall and hope some sticks.

A great way to get others take notice of your insights, is to post critically objective reviews of what you have found to work for you and why. Some great places to post such reviews, besides APSense, are HubPages, Squidoo and your own personal blog site.

It helps a lot when you link to this reviewes from your other sites and ask visitors to post comments.

I was amazed to see how some HubPage writers earn over $500 per month from their Adsense and Amazon adrevenue within six to eight months by writing quality HubPages and gaining a number of followers. There are a few who have recurring incomes of over $1,000 within a year using these strategies ...

Thank you for the feedback Franto. You're on point about HubPages, and the review advice makes sense. I've been a member on HubPages for three years now. I had signed up and wrote a few articles but couldn't commit as much time to writing as I wanted to.

Anyway those hubs are still there getting traffic, and generating income even though I didn't do any promotion and don't have a lot of hub followers.

The articles in the Hub receive mainly search engine traffic which is a bonus. I'm Genesis on HubPages as well so you can easily verify this info. HubPages is indeed an excellent resource!
