This ain't your father's scratch and sniff

by Cheryl Baumgartner Medical Billing/Coding/Insurance
Okay every now an then I buy a scratch off ticket or two.  Last night while I was in the neighborhood convenience store I got the bright idea to buy a scratch off with my change.  I buy one of the new Christmas themed tickets.

So as I'm walking out to the car I'm smelling mint.  Not strong just a whiff every now and then.  When I got in the car I still smelled mint.  Now that resulted in a bit of pondering and looking around to see where the smell was coming from, Maybe the pack of chewing gum I tell myself.

I get home and think nothing of it.  I forgot all about the mysterious minty aroma until this morning.  When I go downstairs and pour my first cup of coffee I realize that hey! I still have a scratch off in my purse.  Talk about reeking!  My purse smelling like the double mint chewing gum factory!

So I scratch my losing ticket.  That's the majority of scratch offs mind you, losing tickets.  I'm also still pretty much sleepwalking at this point.  A couple of minutes ago I went down to the kitchen to get a glass of water and there on the counter is that losing lottery ticket.  Printed boldly on the face of the ticket "Peppermint Scented"

Now whose bright idea was that????  I think the employees of th Texas Lottery Commission might just have too much time on their hands.  Scratch and sniff lottery tickets, what a waste.

LOL I did a double take on the headline and laughed my backside off on the result of your post. As if the things were not addictive enough they have to go and turn them into an air freshener. That my bet is the key, to get you to smell the smell and be drawn to buy one.

LOL! I didn't think of that. Subliminal conditioning. Pavlov's dogs for the 21st Century. Smell mint and get an uncontrollable urge to buy a scratch off! Maybe they are onto something after all!
