The importance of graphics

Especially for TE's the way a graphic looks is important because people see your site or splash for at the most 30 seconds, in many cases only for 10 seconds. Best to grab the attention is to create something special rather than use very plain splashes from a free service or materials provided by the program that many others are using as well.

A header for a website or blog is also very important. It is the very first thing that catches the eye. Your first and only change to make a good impression and make people stay to explore your site further.

I create my own splashes and banners. It works. I get clicks because they stand out. It is not hard to do in Photoshop or Macromedia Fireworks but you need some basic materials.

Great article Paula, but the real truth is most people on a TE only see your page for TWO SECONDS until they switch to the next tab and let it run out the timer in the background, so it's even more critical to catch their attention instantly.
