How Can I Get An SSL Certificate For My Website?

by James Grieg
To enable a fast and secure transaction between the customer and the website, SSL (secure sockets layer) is the key. This is a program that works through the encryption routines and programs found on the web host and browser.

If the question is of getting SSL for a website, below is the answer:
  • Activate the SSL option and provide necessary information there (such as country/state, organization name). Leave the tab SSL request or SSL Certificate blank.

  • Go to the action tab, choose create certification, and click on save.

  • Now you will find the certification signing request (CSR) under SSL request. Use this CSR to apply for an SSL Certificate with companies like VeriSign, Thawte, Comodo, GeoTrust etc. Check for the company?s offers by following the instructions provided on its website, it might offer a trial version. When you get the certificate, copy it into the SSL Certificate and choose save under the actions tab.
Now when you know how SSL can be included on your website, you should also know what encryption strength it should be. The low-encryption level like 40- or 56-bit is not able to provide an unbreakable security in today?s time. For higher-security level, especially if your website deals with online payments and personal data collection such as mail IDs, tax IDs, and bank or credit card details, you need a foolproof security with 128-bit or more SGC (server-gated cryptography) enabled SSL certification. SSL Certificates of standard certification authorities (CAs) like VeriSign, Thawte, and Comodo will work in almost all the browsers. Make your website safe and comfortable for transactions by making it SSL secure and gain your customers? trust.
