How The Amazon Kindle Became So Amazing

by AlejandraMcgonigal
We have all at sometime wished we had had the forethought to throw our favorite book or magazine into our suitcase when packing for that last minute business trip or when we have to travel due to an emergency for those down times when we find ourselves waiting around with nothing to do. But we never do. Now, we will not have to worry about ever forgetting again. Not when you have the solution. The Amazon Kindle.

The Amazon Kindle is a convenient easy to carry device that allows access to and the ability to read e books, blogs, magazines and newspapers where ever you may be. It is a totally contained device which is designed to be able for the storing of a vast amount of digital media forms. It works on a completely wireless network exactly as new generation mobile phones do, meaning that there is no need to have to have access to a computer to upload to the device. However, it can be connected to a computer if you wish to do so.

Because computer screens can be quite a strain on the eye to read due to the glare they give off the Kindle has been especially designed to be kinder to the reader. By using an a display that is designed to mimic paper, which is done through using a set number of grey shades, the kindle is akin to reading a more conventional form of document. Plus, similar to how we may do with normal printed forms, the kindle has been designed with the ability for the user to add their own notes and references which are then recorded and linked to the particular document.

Much like when we put a book we have been reading down, the kindle records where it is in a document we have stopped reading and when the document is accessed again, reopens at that point. Pages can be marked and highlighted for future reference. The page can also be rotated from portrait to landscape orientation, unless this mode has been disabled by the user.

Newer generation Kindles come with a built in PDF reader, are capable of playing MP3 files and have a text to speech option to be able to have the text read loud. They also come with a basic web browser and have a built in dictionary and have the option to add other dictionaries to the device should they be needed.

Amazon had developed their own online digital media store designed for kindle users. As the kindle has been developed with its own format designed by Amazon, other formats can be used but may need to be converted beforehand. To transfer media from other formats involves either access to a computer or can be done via Amazon itself. There may be conversion charges associated with using the Amazon service.

The Kindle has started becoming popular in a wide range of countries outside that of America and as a result, other sources of kindle formatted data have become more widespread. Most of this additional source data requires to be bought. Material that belongs in the public realm at large is also being provided by a number of providers.

The wireless network services that the kindle make use of to deliver electronic books and other digital media to the kindle are provided for no cost. Some kindle services however, do attract fees. Services such as subscriptions generally attract set regular fees and some electronic books will need to be bought. However there is a substantial range of media that is available for the kindle at little to no extra cost.
