The Family Is Growing

No wonder I haven't been in here much recently - too many other things
taking up my time.

We've been busy in the garden, with renovations to the house, and
heaps of other things.

Amongst the work in the garden, we moved the old pond to a new
position, and put a slightly deeper one in its place for the fish.
The old pond is now the water plant area, as the fish damage some
of the plants.

Anyway, we now have seven goldfish in the pond, two large hens
in the backyard, one cat, and four pythons.    I think that's enough
animals around the place.

The hens aren't even laying at the moment, as about three months
ago at the beginning of our Winter, they started to moult.   Although
the feathers are all grown back now, they haven't laid an egg since.
Perhaps they're waiting until Spring.

Wonder what kind of animal I'll add to the menagerie next?

A gold fish pond is a wonderful place to meditate or just relax. I got one too. With the old pond, you want some sort of little feeder fish in there, before it turns into a mosquito breeding ground!. Cheers, Andreas

Hi There, and thanks for your comments. No I don't think I'll get a crocodile, the snakes are enough of a thrill. One bit me on the eyelid a couple of weeks ago, and gave me a black eye. I think he thought when I blinked, that it was a small animal to eat. ;-) I agree, fishponds are great places to sit and meditate. My partner has build a seat in the shade close to the pond, so we can do just that. Agree about the mosquito larvae, but we catch them and hrow them into the fish pond, and the goldfish seem to like them a lot! Unfortunately, we've lost the hens, so there are a couple less animals around the place now, but there's still plenty to do.
