'Terminator Salvation' Producers in Legal Tussle

by Xingbiao zhou
Now, Terminator Salvation faces a different kind of fire—that of the legal kind. One of its producers, Moritz Borman, has sued fellow producers Derek Anderson and Victor Kubicek, alleging fraud and breach of contract. The suit alleges that Borman arranged for the transfer of the rights to Terminator to Anderson and Kubicek, but would have done otherwise if he knew the pair’s “shady” background, or the fact that they’ve been sued before for “swindling” other film producers. It also alleges that a contract signed with the two, before production for the film started, slated Borman to receive a $5 million producing fee. Borman claims that both Anderson and Kubicek “hijacked” the production in July, while shooting was wrapping up, by refusing to pay him the remaining half of his producing fee. He later discovered that the two “did not have the means to finance the picture, had defaulted on numerous loans and owed over $1 million to creditors.” Both Anderson and Kubicek were not immediately available for comment. The film, which stars Christian Bale and is the fourth in a series, is slated to hit theaters this May.
