Two of my favorite books
|
|
Now I want to tell everyone about two books I have. The first one is called: the Top 100 Immunity Boosters by Charlotte Haigh. For me this is by far the best book about foods that help boost your immunity system. Everything is categorized from Roots and Bulbs, Vegetable/Fruits, Citrus Fruits, Herbs and Spices and much more. Another section has a list of ailments and a list of what foods to eat for each ailment. Now I'm not ssaying "Hey eat these foods and you can be cured!" Just knowing what to eat cna help fight agaisnt a lot of things that attack our immune system, especially for those whose immune system is very weak (like myself). Now each item of food also has a list of what vitamins they have, what ailemnts they help fight agaisnt and a nice recipe to boot. Civilazation has been using herbs forever and in some places throughout the world they still use them. Native americans, in Africa, the Amazon, etc, etc. so google the Top 100 immunity Boosters by Charlotte Haigh, you will be glad you did. The next book is called: Yoga & Pilates For Everyone. For someone....or anyone for that matter who wants to get into the fitness industry or wants to add something different to their workouts yoga is the best. Again yoga has been around for centuries and most people thought (and still do) it was some kind of religion. It is just a way to acheive a sense of well being, for the body as well as the mind. The book is very informative. It goes into the history and philosphy of yoga, the eight limbs of yoga: Yama(Social discipline), Niyama(individual discipline), Asana(Postures), Pranayama(Breath control), Pratyahara(Withdrawal and control of senses), Dharana(Concentration), Dhyana(Meditation) and Samadhi(Self-realization) The book also has sections for pregnant women, and after giving birth, yoga for children (my 6 year old daughter loves this book we do this together), and much more. I highly recommend these two books. Your never too old to get fit and eat right. Christopher |
