Motorists ‘looking for green finance products’
|
![]() UK drivers are becoming "switched on" to eco-friendly products such as green insurance, claims an expert. The public relations manager at Co-operative Financial Services (CFS) says growing numbers of motorists are using money from car loans to buy vehicles which are kinder to the environment. Duncan Bowker attributes this rise to the increase in awareness of the effects of carbon emissions and the introduction of higher taxes for high-polluting cars. "There are going to be more financial incentives for people to buy eco vehicles," predicts Mr Bowker. In addition, the spokesperson notes: "We’re seeing that customers are really getting switched on to these products." The CFS representative also suggests that there are increasingly fewer incentives for drivers to take out car loans in order to purchase "non-eco vehicles". A recent AA poll found that growing numbers of Britons are taking a driving holiday this year as they have become aware of the environmental impact of flying, reported the Independent.
