$700 Billions!!! And it is not even printed yet!!!

You know what always strikes me about politicians?? They are always talking about what the American people want--but I seldom ever see them asking The American People what they really want? Oh yeah-sure--they look nice on TV in front of huge crowds that agrees with them--but have they ever came to your home and literally sought advice from u personally?? Yeah I didn't think so!!! So now I give you--THE REAL AMERICAN PEOPLE an opportunity to put out your best advice to the Washington Bureaucrap as to what can we do about this $700 billion loan?? I am sure we have a few folks who took up some economics in High school--and maybe there might even be a person or two who was the president of their class in middle school who can kick in!! So what do u say--Without bashing our current politicians decision making process--(Remember this is suppose to be helpful--not set up ten pins and knock them down!!)

Myself personally--I would rather they didn't bail out AIG! Yeah I know--I know--AIG has many employees who would lose jobs and such!! However--AIG was totally financially mismanaged by CEOs making millions if not billions personally. And if the 700 billions go to them--they will just do the same old--same old!! they wont be able to help themselves-they are too use to their lifestyles and plan to keep it that way.

So instead--why not just do this--The 700 billion dollars # is base upon the approximate amount of combined money owed just in home mortgages alone--right?? Ok--so why not just give the American people the $700 billion dollars by the form of a check in their name--written to the actual mortgage company which holds the deed to their homes in the amount of the actual presently owed? Then give the usual 1 to 5% plan of pay back they generally give on government loans to The American People who get these mortgage payoff loans--So that the they are not paying up to 20 or 30% over and above the loans estimated value--and there by have money in the bank to stimulate the economy. I think this would work because it actually helps both side of the equations--It will help the mortgage companies collect their dues--and they stay in business--since they will get EXACTLY what they are expecting to make--and it helps The American people to have money to actually buy food and things for the house!!! Not to mention gas!! and with more people having more money to work with that will mean that more people will have more money to also create jobs within their own companies because more money will be spent by the consumers--who are and truly should be considered as the backbones or the economy--and instead of some Billionaire CEO!!! After all---are they not billionaires--because everyday consumers spent money on their products?

Well that is my idea! What is yours?

Hi Thomas,

Looks like the 'people' WON this round. As usual our fearless IDIOT leader, G.W. Bush still WANTS the $700B pkg to go thru. He is TRYING to convince the American people that if WE don NIOT 'buy into' this then we face even MORE problems. EVEN BOTH pres candidates want some sort of pkg, not the same as the president's, to go thru. So EVEN the candidates are trying to HOODWINK us. Our BEST BET is on voting day. I SAY: boot out ALL INCUMBENTS on their rear ends this election day. THAT is what I am going to do. EVERY incumbant will NOT get my vote REGARDLESS of their party and if ONLY one is available, I'll write in 'Rocky' my cat as a vote. Let's show them the REAL POWER of the people. IT CAN be done but ONLY if enough people UNITE and send a STRONG message.

In our state people can write bad checks get credit cards run them up to the max and NEVER PAY them back!!! It is Ok FOR THEM TO DO THAT BECAUSE THERE IS A LAW HERE that does NOT ALLOW collection companies or creditors to 'garnish wages'. I know a LOT of people who do JUST THAT and THAT ticks me off just as much as the GREEDY CEO'S.

You do have cases of people buying homes they could not afford, but I am old enough to remember when credit was something you earned. You had to meet requirements to get a credit card, you had to meet stiffer requirements to buy a house. Everyone could not get a credit card.

You either saved until you could purchase your items or you bought it on layaway or on account which was credit between you and the owner of the store. The store owner did not give credit to everyone only those that were regulars, there was no middlemen getting paid for all the accounts he could open. S&L's did not look at credit cards as an income stream but a service. to banks credit cards and debit cards are sources of income so the more people that have them the more money they make. And as far as defaulting, they love to see you default so they can hit you with those late payment fees and push you over the limit so they can add the over the limit fee and then raise your interest rate because you were late.

Notice how it's all geared toward putting money in the banks pockets? However they got greedy. They approved bad loans, gave credit cards to people on the ability to fog a mirror while CEO's were paid multi-millions. And now they cannot pay their bills and the taxpayer the are already screwing out of every dime they can must shoulder the burden of their greed. People like us have been crewed and are now about to get screwed again.

I want to see the CEO's board of Directors and corporate heads take responsibility for their greed. Had they not been so greedy approving everything that came along those people would not have loans to default on in the first place. Banks would be insuring that there was an ability to repay and that people had adequate cash flow to afford the payments.

How about responsibility on the part of individuals that default on there loans.Be it mortgage, auto loan college loans etc. There is enough blame to go around. You see people purchasing a house to the maximum of the sub prime loan they can get. There is enough blame to go around.Anyone with a bad credit or subpar credit contributed to this dilemma.
There are billionaires/millionaires out there that can put up this money. If they ask for 25% interest rate then what. The bottom line is that credit system is a joke.If you don't have money to purchase something, keep saving or improve your purchasing power.
I think most people choose to be mainstream instead of wall street because its a lot of work and effort involved.

AIG is under investigation by the FBI for Fraud while this company was going under it's CEO was pulling in over $10 million in salary. Let it fail! Let them all fail! The whole basis of this bailout is to prevent a widespread panic. What panic? Most of us are already at the point of knowing we are rapidly sinking. The average family is one payday away from homelessness but we were constantly told the economy is strong. Even when the average family was seeing financial ruin looming over the horizon, we were told the economy is strong. No one believes the lie anymore, the evidence just could not be hidden anymore. So now in an attempt to make the lie believable, the average taxpayer one paycheck away from being on the streets himself is going to be stuck paying for corporate greed and mismanagement.

I say bring the panic, Let it rain down like hellfire from heaven because I don't have a reason to panic, I'm screwed, you're screwed we are all screwed. We will survive this mess. The fat bloated corporate giants and their greedy spoiled executives won't. Let then reap what they have sown and face life destitute poor and on the streets just like the average taxpayer. Let them know what it feels like to try to figure out how to put gas in the car, food on the table and keep a decent roof over your families head!

Just a couple of thoughts;

"People who learn how to cooperate are willing to do the things today others won't do in order to have things tomorrow others won't have" - Les Brown

“Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.” Dr. Wayne Dyer

Maybe not history-changing, but worth a moment of contemplation.

Sure I can understand where you are coming from, but AIG has mismanaged millions of individuals money that would leave some if it wasn't bail out, although I don't agree that the taxpayers should be the ones paying it back. Many, individuals that have paid in for years on life Insurance would loose everything too. So, I guess you have to look at which would be better between the 2 evils. Either way regular taxpayers get hurt.

That is my view.
