Untapping the handicapable people market!!
|
![]() How many disabled people do u have either on your business--or can u advertise to?? Do u have a way to advertise your biz to those who can't see?? If you are using videos for your marketing--how effective is it for people who can't hear what u have for them here? Does a person who have mental disorders have any chance what soever to make any money off of your biz-and in turn--u make money from their business with u?? What are your plans to reach out to people are dyslexic or perhaps possess other learning disabilities?? I myself am a person of multiple disabilities. My major disability is I have a severe, profound hearing loss. In English this mean I can't hear! It is something that I did not choose to be--and yet God saw fit to give me the gift of deafness. Yes--I said gift!! However many people seem to treat me like I am cursed instead!! I couldnt join the military because I can't hear bullets coming at me!! I couldnt join the merchant marines because dang--how could I possibly know if there was any fish in my nets?? I wasn't able to join the police force because I wouldn't be able to hear my partner ask what type of donuts I wanted!! Ok--ok--that was a bad joke!!! But you get the point--don't u!! Now I am doing online business--and it s amazing to do!! except when the business are nothing but videos w/o close captions!! Or the business requires a 'phone conference'! And what the heck is a person without arms going to do with a business that requires a keyboard??? Gracefully I found 4 business that I can do online. One of those does involve online conferences complete with visual--However I am provided with a transcriber in text--and a blind friend of mine can do the very same business I am doing because he has special 'viewing equipments' on his computer!! So in other words--what I am saying is HANDICAPPED PEOPLE ARE NOT BECOMING HANDICAPPABLE PEOPLE!! Do u even realized how much of an untouched market that is?? Can u even imagine what the results could possibly be if u could somehow make your very own business what ever it may be--handicapped accessible????? People will never care about how much u know, until they know how much u care! |

| There are very few quality home business that will go out of their way to help people with disabilities. And its true that those people are treated differently even thought hey shouldnt be. I agree with you Tom, people wont care how much you know until they know how much you care! |

| Yes it does really annoy me when people who are even a little different are treated as some sort of a sub-species not worthy of our time and attention.
A very valid point has been made here - so come on Business operators and team leaders lets make sure that anyone who wants to participate online can. I know my team has been doing so and it really is not that hard to do. A scribe to help a deaf person "Hear" the team meetings and company conferences A narrator to help a blind team member 'See" the images on screen 1-on-1 mentoring for a team member with learning difficulties A reader for a dyslexic team member Yes we do have team members with these so called disabilities and they are all doing very well. Just because they have a so called problem does not mean they do not have the intelligence, drive or business savvy to succeed. You may well be very surprised at how switched on some can be too. This is one company that has gone out of tis way to help me. And not only have they but theywil continue to do so as they are looking into ways to make the program accessible not only to myself--but my fellow deaf community!! Along with this--This company is als seeking ways to reacdh people around the world in their own languages!! Is your company working this hard to accomodate others??? People will never care about how much u know, until they know how much u care! |

| I totally agree where are the benefits on programs to help idividuals with disabilities? I am Glad that you have found some programs that are beneficial to you? Maybe you can tell all the viewers of your blog how to contact you for this valuable information that could help others that have disabilities. I am glad that you have someone that translates for you so that you can be involved with your team members and participate in meetings. That's Great. I like your blog, now maybe you can share with others that have disablities how you got started and what has helped you and also, maybe give ideas to others on differnet things that can be done to help even more.
