WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!! I was not surprised to see the following in a news article:- But in a rare signal of solidarity with the current Republican administration, Obama told a news conference in Paris on Friday that Iran should not wait for the next U.S. president to try to reach a deal over its nuclear program. He also praised Bush's decision to send senior U.S. diplomat William Burns to talks in Geneva with Iranian officials. Did you see it, America? Do you even care about what it means? Once again the American administration is starting to spin its webs of lies to entrap the nation into another war that cannot be won created by an invasion based upon false information. American intelligence sources have already confirmed that Iran has no weapons technology under development, nor does it have dreams of empire and a desire to end the world. Only America has that! Only America has the desire to shout WaHoo! and charge into the midst of innocent civilians, laying waste all about them, and then claim 'self defence'! Only America sees terrorism and intimidation as legitimate tools of democracy (a word America has corrupted beyond redemption). They couldn't settle any pretend problems in Iraq - but they could get thousands of American troops slaughtered. They can't settle any pretend problems in Iran - but they can get thousands of American troops slaughtered. They can take a presidential nominee and turn his avowed intent totally on its head within a very short number of days of his receiving the nomination. Oh, boy! It just keeps getting worse . . . . | Unfortunately, here in the US, it has come down to choose the lesser of two evils when it comes to voting. With all the 'behind the scenes' bartering for huge campaign donations with big corporations (Insurance, oil, pharmaceuticals, etc...) the candidates have jumped in bed with the devil and once they get there, they find there is no way out. They simply become puppets of the Corporations. We now have judges making laws instead of interpreting them as was designed in the Constitution, Senators and Congressman that will add a bunch of pork barrel riders on any Bill that has merit to make sure that if it passes, their region or Corporate 'buddies' will reap some benefits from something that was originally not even associated with the original Bill. Or the rider is intended to stir up enough controversy to ensure the Bill does not pass. Americans need to vote this year and they need to vote their conscious, not a simple Party line. That is how we have gotten into this mess we find ourselves in now. It used to be "I am Republican, so that is who I am voting for!" regardless of what the nominee stands for! We, as Americans, need to REALLY look at the platform of the nominee and see what their stand is on ALL the issues, and then we need to vote ! | BRAVO Arthur, and Garnet too for that beautiful and astute summary of the "new thinking" from the US. As a non american who grew up surrounded by americans, I have noticed the growing and acute embarrasment and deep concern of your good people at the new interpretations by the US government of old concepts. Freedom of Speech depends now on what your opinions are and anyone who uses their democratic right to disagree is now a terrorist, a communist or just plain anti american.. The McCarthy mentality has returned to the White House and Executive Orders have replaced government of the people for the people by the people. Obama, whilst enjoying enormous popularity outside the US, but I suspect that it is more a case of relief that maybe the US might finally get rid of a presidential era that has been disliked (to put it politely) by world governments all the world over for its high handedness, pure arrogance combined with total disgregard for the interests of any ocuntry outside the US. !! But this is posibley because he is aware that there is a thinking and living world outside the US and that hasnt happened for a long time as far as presidents and presidential candidates are concerned LOL As the electioneering continues - I am becoming more and more aware how far the US government has distanced their country from the Constitution that was established as its basis. and how many of their acts are totally unconstitutional. What worries me is that the great american public do not seem aware that this is happening, or if they do, are not using their voice and their own voting power to change this and bring in a candidate who will return the US to the Constitutional Repulbic it used to be.
