by Beth Schmillen I'm a success. My email address has been usurped for spam mailings and they claim it's a MSN newsletter that I've enrolled for. ...they even send mail to me.Do they do this to everyone and my address is only being used to mail me?
or are they using the MSN > < fraudulently as I suspect?
Earlier I was getting email from mmyself about penile enhancement products and I wrote to my email provider and asked if there could be a hacker because the source of the email was from me without any of the usual odd it's really from xyz.netwiz.crap Understandably I was told that wasn't possible and it sounded a bit indignent to me! ...
Now I've gotten another and it's all about viewing a nude Anjelia Jolie
So, I write to my email provider, who is my former family owned and operated ISP provider...and I ask:
"Can you tell from this who is actually sending the email?
it is the m17-17.intnet.bj([81.91.226.227]) correct?
Is there any way I can report them? Will spam@uce.gov do
anything if I tell them about this. (that's the gov site for spam
reporting according to Kim Komando!)
I am not a spammer. I haven't had any repercussions from lthis
as yet that I'm aware of but I do not want this email address of
mine to be blocked or placed on spammer lists which it must have
been by now.
Any assistance or info on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Sincerely
Beth Schmillen

How did this happen? My email address is now spam and they claim it's a MSN newsletter that I've enrolled for. I am not a spammer.
Received: from m17-17.intnet.bj ([81.91.226.227])by mail.turbonet.com (Cactus Mail Server v9.2.1) with SMTP id YDZ72522 for <b_schmillen@turbonet.com>; Fri, 18 Jul 2008 15:33:22 -0700
How does this happen?
Now will see if I get a helpful response. I'm not able to log into my MSN mail account or retrieve my pwd... funny how that's happened. ------------------------------------------

Hello,
Thank you for your message to MSN and Windows Live Privacy.
Microsoft is concerned about controlling unsolicited commercial e-mail, or "spam." Microsoft has a strict policy prohibiting how to use a Hotmail or other MSN e-mail accounts to send spam. To read more about this policy, visit: http://privacy.msn.com/Anti-spam/
Microsoft will not sell, lease or rent its e-mail subscriber lists to third parties. While Microsoft continues to actively review research, develop, and implement new technology to additionally curb spam, there is no currently available technology that will completely prevent the sending and receiving of unsolicited e-mail. Using tools such as the Inbox Protector and being cautious about the sharing of your e-mail address will help reduce the amount of unsolicited e-mail you receive. For more information about how to best use Hotmail's tools, select “help†from within Hotmail or contact abuse@hotmail.com
When reporting unsolicited e-mail, as a general practice, include the full, unedited content of the message in question, and the full, unedited message “header,†and send it to the appropriate authorities at the originating domain. Find how to do this by visiting: http://safety.msn.com/articles/msmailprotect.armx
If the mail is abusive, threatening, or harassing, include all relevant evidence and information in your report. If you receive abusive, threatening, or harassing e-mail, Microsoft also suggests that you contact your local authorities.
If you are an MSN Member, or believe the abuse originated from an MSN member, send your report to: Abuse@msn.com
If you are a Hotmail Member, or believe the abuse originated from a Hotmail member, send your report to: Abuse@hotmail.com
If the abuse originated from another domain, we recommend that you send your report to the postmaster at the domain listed in the message header. For example, if the message came from user@xyz.com, forward the complete message to postmaster@xyz.com

thanks for those links Mastertikitak! No pics of Brad available that I know of or I might have been tempted to see what his double looks like! The other way of reporting spam that I heard of from the Kim Komando show is just forward it to spam@uce.gov but with my name on it? I don't think so! LOL.... they might not be that thorough at looking at the source and seeing I'm not the spammer! Jul 21st 2008 00:31 |
