any trend follower on the internet has to be the way to go? it still is too complicated for me to understand the likes of google anything unless I'm googling for some info or site!

It's wonderful to hear from all of you great folks! :) I hope that Google Trends will be of use to you. I find it interesting to see what the hot searches are for the hour, and the graphs and charts are very useful too. Only problem is there's some Yodel Head giving away the plot twist in a movie that I was going to see, dang it! Oddly, I did write an article about it a few days ago, and I got more responses than normal because I used the term "Hancock " in my article and so did the responders...
