12 Stages in a Rehabilitation Center for Drug Addicts
by James Richard article writingEvery rehabilitation center for drug addicts starts the treatment of its patients with a correct diagnosis of the addiction. This is essential for the development of a personalized program for their treatment. The comprehensive rehabilitation program offered by some renowned centers can help the patients recover in as little as 30 days. However, this is the least no. of days that a patient should expect to spend in a rehab. After an initial assessment, they are made to undergo healthcare practices, detoxification, clinical analysis, group therapy, and family therapy.
12 stages the patients go through in a rehabilitation center
1. In the first stage, the patients are made to realize that their addiction is seriously harming their lives and that they need to overcome the problem at the earliest.
2. After a week or so, the patients start to believe that they have regained control over themselves. They start believing in a power that can cure them.
3. The patients start believing in the power of God to cure them if they turn to Him.
4. Based on the guiding morals, the patients make a thorough overhaul of their state of mind with a fearlessness which was missing earlier.
5. The patients admit to have committed wrongs against themselves, others and God.
6. The patient opens themselves to receive the grace of God to abolish the character defects troubling them.
7. They humbly ask for God’s intervention in their lives for the removal of their shortcomings.
8. The patients are asked to make a list of the people they have wronged, after which they willingly agree to try to undo the harm caused.
9. The amends that the patients make with those harmed by them is monitored. They are allowed to make amends to only those individuals who are not likely to be harmed again. It is also evaluated whether or not such an act of making amends would harm the others in any conceivable way.
10. The patients learn to inculcate the habit of self-monitoring of thoughts and mental state so that they are able to take responsibility for the same.
11. With an enhanced understanding of the divine, the patient learns to make conscious contact with their superior self through prayers and meditation. Praying is meant only for personal development so that God’s will becomes clear in the patient’s mind to be carried out by them.
12. As the patient fully recovers with the treatment for alcoholism or any other addiction, they pass the message to other addicts and practice these principles.
