Ever Just Feel Like Eating A Really Big Sandwich? Never Try To Write About Food When Hungry! LOL!


 At times it just feels like one of those "Grab A Good Loaf And Stuff It.." Days! I'm probably going to do just that after I finish composing this blog....

 Here are some of my favorites, with their recipes, and also some links to great sandwiches from around the world! :)

Chicago Style Hot Dogs:

  • 1 all-beef hot dog
  • 1 poppyseed hot dog bun
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon sweet green pickle relish
  • 1 tablespoon chopped onion
  • 4 tomato wedges
  • 1 dill pickle spear
  • 2 sport peppers
  • 1 dash celery salt

    New Orleans Muffeletta Sandwich:

    1 round loaf Muffuletta Bread, 10-inch in diameter*
    Olive Salad (see recipe below)
    Extra-virgin
    olive oil or juice from Olive Salad
    2 ounces salami, thinly sliced
    2 ounces Italian ham, thinly sliced
    2 ounces Provolone cheese, thinly sliced

    New York Style Calzone:

  • NY Style Pizza Dough
  • 1 lb. ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper

     Philly Style Cheese Steak:

    1 Tbs. canola oil; more if needed
    9 oz. New York strip steak, 1 inch thick
    1/2 tsp. coarse salt; more to taste
    Scant 1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper; more to taste
    8 medium cremini or button mushrooms (5 to 6 oz. total), thinly sliced
    1/2 medium yellow onion (2 to 3 oz.), thinly sliced
    2 medium scallions (white and green parts), thinly sliced on a sharp angle (about 1/4-cup)
    1 tsp. minced garlic
    6 small cherry tomatoes (or grape tomatoes), quartered
    2 thin slices provolone or fontina cheese (about 1 oz. each)
    2 slices bread (about 1/2-inch thick), cut from a round country loaf or other rustic loaf, lightly toasted

    I can make grilled Calzones, too- I just made a batch of fresh pizza sauce-- I use sliced steak in mine! :)

    Enjoy fried green tomatoes with fried eggplant... Makes one heck of a sandwich with grillled Portabella mushroom caps and sweet elephant garlic slices, melted mozzerella...OK, I'm hungry dammit! :)

    That kinda looks like what I had for lunch LOL

    Only I had Steak on mine and instead of all bread used a wrap instead.

    Now I don't need supper

    Course your new bread sounds real yummy

    My boys weren't allowed to be picky eaters. They were allowed 3 options of food that they would not eat during that week I would serve 1 tablespoon full and they had to eat it before they could say Yuch!!!

    I just wouldn't make it and it worked. Now they eat most everything. Even green fried tomatoes
