Housework Horror

Posted Date: 2008-01-08 23:33, Pageview: 487
Well, it's another fairly hot day here in Melbourne, Australia, and the weather bureau
has forecast 30C, with tomorrow 41 and Friday 40C.     A long hot and dry summer
here, that's for sure.

So what do I do?    Decide to wash all the curtains and clean the venetial blinds, as
well as the normal housework.    Am I crazy, or what?     No, don't answer that.

The cat took off and hid under some bushes in the garden.   Can't say I blame her
for that, and she hates the sound of the vacuum cleaner.

One good thing about today though - I discovered that the upholstery brush on
the vacuum cleans the blinds a lot faster than doing it by hand.   Maybe not so
well, but who cares, so long as it gets done.

Perspiration dripping off me, I decided to take a break on my beloved PC, before
finishing the lounge, and rehanging the curtains.

Then I decided to check and see if the upholster brush would do the normal
dusting as well.    It does, so that's another job made easier in the future.
Wonder why I never thought of trying it before, instead of wet dusting or using
a feather duster all the time.........

I still hate housework, and the curtains are still waiting to be hung, with a few
more still on the clothes line drying.   Who cares?      I'm in here playing with my
PC and the housework can go jump - I've done enough today!

Hi Rae,

Yes, the fridge is on the list....... next really hot day.
Don't have to worry about the freezer part too much on it,
because I got the auto defrost variety. Saves a lot of
work! :-)

Did you know if you put a few drops of vanilla essence in
the water you use to wipe down the fridge, it helps keep
them smelling good?

Speaking of cleaning out appliances...my son actually helped me clean (and I mean clean) the refrigerator. The freezer might be next (nah!)

Here we are with yet another very hot day here in Melbourne.
Not into the 40's, but the 30's are bad enough.

Anyway, since it's too hot for most housework, and I really have
to do something, decided to clean out and defrost the freezer.
At least it's cool, while the ice is melting.

Note to self : When you get a new freezer, get an automatic
defrost model..................................

Roo steaks? They taste like 'roo steaks!

Seriously, it's hard to describe, but they are a little stronger than steak,
and a lot less fatty. If you cook it exactly like beef, you can't go wrong.

I like kangaroo mince instead of beef mince, and always use it now.

Since we've had a lot of land clearing for farming, the 'roo population has
soared. They've had to be culled in many areas, as they were overstocked
and starving. It's better to eat the meat than waste it.

Not too many eat them yet, but the meat is starting to appear in the
larger supermarkets - at a premium price, I might add. For something
that always used to be used for pet meat!

And just to stay on topic - I didn't get much cleaning done today, as I
had a migraine, so spent a few hours in bed. Must have done too
much cleaning yesterday - that's my excuse anyway. ;-)

BAH!! Housework! I'd rather 'level' the first floor and completely redo the thing than clean it!

P.S. Arrogant Canadian that I am, you guy's actually eat them? What do they taste like?

I would love to try Roo steaks! I'm trying to see if my friend Sire, who's a winemaker in Q-Land can sneak me a few! :)

Peaceful, you are so BAD! Jean, you sound like me. When I wash my kitchen floor, I do a section, then get on the PC....do another section, get the PC. In fact I probably break-up a lot of my housework that way. I absolutely hate to do housework, but work in the yard even on a hot day...

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your comments, and Jeff, love the Moojita scale.
And I love steak too! Aside and off topic, have you ever eaten
kangaroo steak?

Today it is gonna be 41C and I'm still going on the curtains, etc.
The lounge stuff is all back up and looking good, now I have the
study, kitchen, laundry and back door to do.

They'll all dry today, and that job is done for the summer!

Bring on Autumn, is all I can say! :-) My favourite time of year.

Take it easy on housework ... take it like you're exercising.
Most fulfilling at times & you can be proud when mission accomplished !

yeah. not all like to do household chores. Some treat it as a task, some treat it as a burden.

But nevertheless, things still have to be done. But don't worry. Take your time. Like my father always said " Household chores will NEVER end. It just keep coming"

Peaceful - Very funny regarding the MOOJITA scales

when you get M5 Tornado you get STEAK!! LOL

During the heat waves that we had here in the States-- Housework was the last thing on my mind as I was busy trying to stay amongst The Living...

I detest heat and humidity, so Summers around here are not my favorite seasons-- I try to escape to the mountains or the beaches.... Wherever there is a cooling breeze to had and plenty of water to swim in...

I truly feel your pain-- I hope that Aussie Land recovers from their drought and that you and yours will get the Rains and cool temps soon! :)

Some Laffs:

Everybody knows about the Fujita Scale which measures the power of tornados. But nobody really knows what all those types of twisters do to COWS. So here is the MOOJITA Scale...

M0 Tornado - Cows in an open field are spun around parallel to the wind flow and become mildly annoyed.

M1 Tornado - Cows are tipped over and can't get up.

M2 Tornado - Cows begin rolling with the wind.

M3 Tornado - Cows tumble and bounce.

M4 Tornado - Cows are AIRBORN.

M5 Tornado - S T E A K ! ! !
