Collections

I have had one special collection or another, since a very young age.  I used to have a passion for collecting Comic Books.   I still have them all too.  My favorites were Richie Rich, Archie, Betty and Veronica,  I also collected all of the digest too.  I collected these for 10 years.  In addition, I have all of the Snoopy digest, and Family Circus Books. I had some old Marvel comics, boy do I ever wish I had kept them.  Some are worth quite a bit now.

My newest passsion is collecting dolls from all of the old sitcoms and my favorite celebrities.  Currently, I have all of the Barbie collection for

I Love Lucy (all 15), Addams Family, Munsters, I dream of Jeannie, Wizard of Oz, That Girl, Marilyn Monroe, Diana Ross, Bewithched, and Cher Dolls both old and new.

It is exciting when you have a collection and a new item comes out.

What do you like to collect?  Is your collection complete or on going?

Have you ever let go of something, and wish you still had it now?

Cool stuff to collect. I stumbled on a book on ebay once, that sold for almost $1,000.00. It opened my eyes up to the value of some of the rare books. I have not been fortunate enough to find one yet. Do you have suggestions for specific books or authors? I agree, I had much rather have a book in my hands than an ebook. I have a friend that collected beautiful peices of sea glass, in all different colors, for 10 years. She was able to decorate her small walk way with all of these collected peices and give the rest to her mother as a very, very special gift. It was really beautiful! I love the sound of the conch shell. Reminds me of Gilligans Island too..lol.

Believe it or not I collect keychains. It started by accident when I found a couple I really liked. From there my mom and my daughter started adding to it and it has taken on a life of it's own. They either have to have some saying or be a special item. (My mom gave me a toilet one year that actually made a flushing noise) Thanks to mom I now has a collect of, yes toilets. I have both a toilet and out house banks, two toilet key chains and a set of outhouse salt and pepper shakers complete with a half-moon on the doors. So I never claimed to be sane! ROFLMAO!

Lol...being sane is too boring...ha! Keyrings, that's something I bet not too many folks have. That's neat. I bet your salt and pepper shaker with the half moons are cute! My mom has always colleted salt and peper shakers. When I was a young child, I used to love peering at her collection through the glass doors of her curio. We never travled, but her friend did, and would bring us back a new set from where ever they went. I go to garage sells a lot, let me know if you are looking for anything in paticular, I'll keep my eyes open for it. I love to look for other people, sometimes more than myself..lol.

Lol...love to see it.. That would be fun to go out with it, and sit at the mall sipping it, just for the fun of it. I'm sure you will get looks.

I am not much of a collector - I truly hate clutter, but I do have too much furniture. I like antiques mixed with modern and do need to clear out some. I also have too many books, but I have no trouble parting with them, and I regularly do either trade, donate or give them away. In spite of my need for no clutter and organization, I married a collector and gave birth to two children who inherited his collector gene (actually I call it hoarding). These people I live with collect everything from rocks to trading cards. My husband collects bobble heads and obscure toys; my son collects EVERYTHING that comes into his possession (hence the hoarding definition), he has every collector card imaginable - boxes and boxes of them and he loves to "sort" them on a regular basis; my daughter collects bits of paper, toilet paper rolls, pieces of fabric etc to turn into magnificent creations. Although I detest the clutter, I do have to admit that she is very creative and has created some magnificent pieces out of, what I would consider, garbage.

About me and my Zippo Lighter collection. Zippo John's Genuine Collectible Zippo Lighters has grown from a long time passion for Zippo lighters. I have personally used them for over 30 years. I have always viewed Zippo lighters as little portraits and works of art. I have been collecting genuine Zippo Windproof Lighters for over 20 years. I quit smoking a few of years back, but my passion for these American made marvels continues. Feel free to visit http://zippojohn.com to check them out. Sincerely, John (Zippo John)

Real books are better than ebooks any day. Nothing like the real thing. Be it books, butter or sugar, I hate the substitutes. Keeping it real. I don't care much for disposable either. Well that's my 2 cents worth have a great weekend. John zippojohn.com
