How to really pee people off.

When Jenny (Alas y Cia) invited me to join Apsense, I was a little cautious because I was a bit down, health wise and I really thought that I could talk some common sense into the members of a community that I had belonged to for some time. I'm a bit thick headed so it took me several months to learn that thug rule and predilection for spam had taken over and the community could no longer offer what had first attracted me - so I, reluctantly, joined the exodus. In my brief time of being active at Apsense I have enjoyed some good and some humourous conversations and been welcomed with open arms by the membership. I'm not a devious or vindictive guy but I do speak my mind and I do accept argument as a valid contribution to any relationship. Also, I expect to be playing with grown ups, people like myself with opinions and the ability to state them and defend them, if necessary. There have been many occasions when my defence of my own position has been robustly attacked and defended. It's called agument or discussion or, even, disagreement.. It is dynamic and energetic and educational and constructive and valuable. I have never before been censored. I have never before seen the spiteful, purile and imbecilic censorship that I recently saw here. Since the censor is an 'administrator' of this community and since she has not even had the common courtesy (guts) to explain her totally unacceptable behaviour, I must assume that, once again, "they are not all locked up". Some of them are 'in charge'. I'm off to play with the adults where teacher can't see me - behind the bike sheds.

| Hi Gerry i have just found another definition on the internet - which may be closer to the truth! LOL "1. Any of several dark-gray aquatic birds of the genus Fulica of North America and Europe, having a black head and neck, lobed toes, and a white bill. 2. See scoter. 3. Informal An eccentric or crotchety person, especially an eccentric old man." For Angel Lovers Earn $$s |

| Hi, The Old Coot Thanks for the explanation about your name. It's good I did not make naughty remarks about it. Are you in Spain? If yes, good. I'll have my brother-in-law, naturalized Spanish citizen, to meet you. My wife has been there, too. For our next vacation, I'll consider including Spain in my itinerary ... to meet you in person .... because you appear to be a nice guy after all. |

| Hi, gerry,
An old coot is a stubborn, brooks no nonsense sort of guy who will you the truth whether you want it or not. A coot is a bird that flies very well but if in need of a fast retreat, will run away - ON water. I don't run away. I can't walk on water but there is a man who could whom I would like to meet. | Hi Arthur, Off topic, but what the heck. It is interesting to see that the placebo effect of many products lasts as long as 6 months. That explains a lot of the testimonials that are quite clearly sincere, for a lot of products that seem to work with no scientific explanation. I will not join you in damning ALL products sold by MLM - Aloe Vera pulp does seem to work on the digestive system - as I used it for one of my sons when he was a toddler to sort out some stomach spasms he was having due to irregular bowel movements - and he was too young to understand about medicine or placebo effects. But it was a mild case and anything more serious would have had me with the pediatrician. And this partcular company, whilst using MLM as they are caught up in the restrictions by the US legislation - also uses it as an extrememly effective sales method for their product - but Product here is the key word. It's sellers and mlm-ers talk constantly about the products which is quite unusual for an mlm these days. But generally i would agree with you - the majority of magical products are only valid for minor non life threatening ailments and often have properties that are also contained in a good and suitable diet. Real honey and royal jelly and pollen and natural propolis are all good medicines, as is water, and many fruits. We can buy antioxidants in pill form, or we can eat foodstuffs which contain them in high levels. We can take beta carotene or eat carrots! the Cancer asociation here give educational talks to schools and encourage them to eat fruit all to help prevent cancers - not pills and they taste nicer! | Hi, The Old Coot You have written much about your physical condition and I reacted with a simple recommendation. Probably, I should just have left you alone. I hope you stay long in Apsense. Don't mind the censor-'administrator' of this community. You can handle the situation, can't you? Honestly, I'm beginning to like you as a friend and source of useful information. May I make a new request? Kindly tell me what made you choose "The Old Coot" as your name here. Merry Christmas Gerry Pira |

| Hi Arthur,
Very well said as always. The MLM world is strewn with snake oil, pill, potion and lotion, self aclaimed" miracle cure alls" that dont have a single piece of medical evidence to back any of thier claims. All they are, are methods to line the pockets of people praying on geuinly sick people looking for releif from constant suffering and pain. Like you I live 24 hours a day with pain, but i refuse to even take the normall pain killers available. I have no intention of trying to function drugged up to the eyeballs like a zombie. Thanks to the help of a very good hypnotherapist who, although he could never hypnotise me, did teach me a few mind control methods which I use to help me get through each day. | Hi, Gerry,
As you can imagine, a life of constant pain is a great motivator to seek out solutions and I have been involved in very many clinical trials of snake oil, cauldron brew and berry juice where my ability to prevent the manifestation of the placebo effect has gained me an almost permanent position in the intial B groups of tests. I think, if there really was a solution, it would have been discovered some time in the last 43 years of my career as a guinea pig. I did use magnetic therapy successfully for a few years and I can state that it does, indeed work with early indications and low level discomforts but, with a progressive problem, there comes a time at which the benefit is, at best, marginal. One of the problems with testing products from north America is that they do not travel well and are usually refused a distribution licence in Europe and so, get reduced to the status of health food and are distributed in an MLM style or through the many Parafarmacias that have appeared over the last few years. As a matter of interest, today I was sent an advert for a cheap product "that my doctor would never tell me about because it was so cheap and so effective at removing the calcium deposits in my blood vessels". Of course, it was an American product and I can only feel deep distress that Americans appear to be plagued by doctors who do not have their patients' best interests at heart. The statements about the doctors was bad enough but then the advertising blurb went on to say that the product was so powerful it was not possible to sell it without adding vitamins and minerals to aid the body recover from the sudden state of good health. Do me a favour! At least grant me the inteligence God gave to carrots. It is simply astounding that a "new" medical cure-all is found and marketed in the States at least at weekly intervals - they tend to disappear just as quickly. Sick people and Internet Marketers have one thing in common - they are prey! BTW - I did look at your eAmega web site and I did what I always do - I looked to see why I should join. That was bloody stupid of me, wasn't it? I should join to make money! I should join to get into a growing and high earning industry. I should join to get support. The fact that the company decided to give only reasons relating to financial gain tells me all I want to know about it's priorities. I'm sorry, Gerry, I would have been just a bit more inclined to be interested if SOMEWHERE in that list of reasons to join was "TO HELP EASE SUFFERING" or "TO HELP YOUR FELLOW MAN" or some indication that this was not some money grabbing programme designed to sell over hyped products to under educated or desperate sufferers to generate the highest possible affiliate earnings. I do not apologise for being so scathing in my opinion - I am surrounded every day by people who are in pain. They write to me. They call me to their homes. They ask me about the latest snake oil offer. I will let you into a little secret. The placebo effect is so powerful that it is very easy to get early endorsements from people who have been convinced that they have received a beneficial treatment. Try doing it six months later! I really do appreciate your desire to help and acknowledge that you were honest in your intent - unfortunately I know a little more about the subject from personal and deep involvement on behalf of both myself and over 76,000 who are members of my club. Think on this - if ANY of these products were any good, do you really think the laboratories would be selling them through MLM? You bet your life they wouldn't. They would immediately apply for distribution licences in every country possible in order to get the maximum return on investment by selling through national and private health services. | The Old Coot, For your physical condition, I suggest you consider the use of magnetic therapy, nano technology, and herbal supplements. Go over these sites and let's talk about them: http://www.eamega.com/rabe http://www.livepine.com I've used these products and seen other people (including my 75-year old sister and my wife) get beneficial results. I know the people behind these products and have been working with them in business - 1 year (Amega) and 3 years (livepine) We are now doing the spadework for the mass distribution of the Amega products in North America. The Pine Needle Oil was initially marketed online. Currently, it's being distributed mainly offline through a network of medical and health service practitioners in USA. I'm active with the Amega products as a business associate. I've given up active work in the global marketing team for the other product line but I'm still consulted periodically on marketing related matters. I recommend that you look into these alternatives to get possible relief from pain and illness. Merry Christmas! Gerry Pira |
