Building Your Confidence Level

Some people seem to have alot of confidence and others seem to be more reserved. The ones that are on the reserved side often wonder how they can become more outgoing like their counterparts. My feelings on this may not come from a textbook.  But from living life :)

I believe that when a person knows who they are and are comfortable with this. Then they naturally radiate confidence. This is important for almost any relationship between people.

Then there is online confidence, which is a whole other level. As most times you never have to actually meet or speak with other people. So this is where knowledge can lead to your confidence. If you are well versed in any subject...you will come across very confident. So if you are writing or getting ready for a meeting online, prepare, study and prepare some more. As long as you present yourself and ideas well and completely, you will be confident and others will read this in your writing.

So feeling comfortable with who you really are. And learning as much as you can, will help with your confidence level.

I have known people and friends who have reversed this....they used to be shy and reserved offline. Then they started to excel online and it just poured into their offline life as well.

Also it helps with your confidense to surround yourself with positive and supportive people also :)

Candice,

When I decide to try tackling a blog or article. I try not to think about how many views or comments I might get. I first think about what it is that I am trying to get across. Then I just go with it. After I post it, I feel great to have reached just one person. I have alot of stuff that doesn't get read much or it gets lost in all the new discussions and blogs being posted. Thats okay too, its all a learning experience.

So what happens when you don't feel your writing skills have improved
enough to post articles? And you can tell when no one reads or post to
them. Writing, writing and more writing is what the internet is all about
and without it your doomed for failure.

James,

Yes, that is true too. It is good to have a life offline as well. I am active in my daughters school activities. So I manage to go out often. But, I also enjoy my online time to the fullest.

That's true Lynn. But there are also much debate on whether people should spend their time online socializing as compared to offline socializing. Many had argued that people are "wasting" their time online and will lose their inter-personal skills as compared to talking to people face to face.

Personally, i was much more reserved and quiet in real life. But spending more time online, chatting in forums, posting blogs, reading/posting/exchanging comments, I learn to have more self confidence. Maybe its partly due to the fact that i can remain anonymous online whereas in real life people can see and recognize me if i make some stupid mistakes.

I remember the very first time I wrote anything for the public eye to see, I was actually pretty nervous about pressing the send key.

Your right, it's all about having confidence in yourself, learning as much as you can, and...having fun too along the way!

I'm pretty shy outside of the computer world, and I used to be like that online too. I have atleast reversed my online outlook and I'm having a great time!

Another way to build up confidence...is to just get out there and try. You don't have to write a full size article. Just post a few short comments to get your feet wet. And before you know it , you will be writing longer comments, starting your own discussions and maybe even writing articles for publication :)
