What's Your Favourite Quotation and why?

I'm sure we've all got favourite quotations.   Perhaps you'd like to share some off your favourites with everyone?

Here are a few that I like:

Better Busy Than Bored..........Jean D'Andrea
Well, OK, so I started with one of mine, but I like it, and don't think I got it from anyone else!

Beware of dissipating your powers; strive constantly to concentrate them.
.........Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 - 1832)

There is no security on this earth, there is only opportunity.
.......General Douglas MacArthur (1880 - 1964)

The two above, I think, are very applicable to our businesses.
What do you think?

And of course, there are always quotes about animals.   I found this one today, which I really liked.   Of course I'm prejudiced, being a cat-lover.  :-)

Cats are smarter than dogs. You can't get eight cats to pull a sled through snow.
.......Jeff Valdez

Well, that's enough from me for now.   I'm expecting to log in here tomorrow and find a few of your favourite quotes added to this blog.  I'm sure all of you have one or two.   Don't disappoint me, and don't be shy, now.    Lots of participation here would be great!

Hi Jean,

I used to quote others until recently then I decided it was time that people had a chance to quote me.

So here are my two favourite James Phillips quotes.

You and your readers are welcome to quote me.

I am, therefore I think.
(James Phillips)

Throw a pebble in the pond of life and see how far the ripples go.
The waves may be small, but at least you made them.
(James Phillips)

Hi James,

Thanks for dropping by! You just caught me, as I was about to log off for the evening, and give the poor PC, not to mention my eyes, a rest!

Here's a deep and meaningful quotation for you:

"All of us failed to match our dreams of perfection. So I rate us on the basis of our splendid failure to do the impossible."
........William Faulkner

I like the idea of a failure being splendid! :-)

Here's a couple more quotes I just found. Like the one by Jimi Hendrix - more than just a pop star!

Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens.
....... Jimi Hendrix

James, this one is especially for you! :-)

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach him how to fish and
you get rid of him all weekend.
....... Zenna Schaffer

And Wendy, I know this wouldn't work for you - you'd be right out
there with him! :-)

Well Jean if we are allowed to repeat post then I do have a quote that I didn't write but I use every day in my OBA Biz
The great Dave Gray wrote:
'The secret of becoming wealthy is to get paid again and again for something you do one time'

This never leaves my brain and fires me up every time I look up from my PC.
It's why I love OBA and Stacked Income.

Thanks for the catch a fish reference. The one I heard was that he would stay in the boat all weekend. Same result - she is rid of him.

Hi James,
Of course you're allowed to post more than once - why not? The more the merrier.

Agree with you about Dave's quote, and think I'll import a few of his sayings into the blog so that they can be shared. Have to try to fit it into the schedule........

Joseph Botelho Magnate I   Investing One Gram at a Time
Part of success is prepartion on purpose.

I love quotes they make you really think about the words in that quote...............

Hi Joe,
I think that's why I like them too - there's so much truth in them.
Got to go find a good one for today's quote!

Just a short quote today, but it really is right! Think about it.

Courage is doing what you're afraid to do. There can be no courage unless you're scared.
.......... Eddie Rickenbacker

Another short quote for the day. This one appealed to me, because I really
like volcanoes.......don't ask why!

Enthusiasm is a volcano on whose top never grows the grass of hesitation.
.........Kahlil Gibran

Think about it - it's really very true. Enthusiasm is a necessary ingredient
to success. If you can't be enthusiastic about your projects, business, etc.,
then you won't be sucessful.

Take care
Jean

This one really is right, especially about online business!

Success in business requires training and discipline and hard work. But if you're not frightened by these things, the opportunities are just as great today as they ever were.
..............David Rockefeller (1915 - )

Hi Fishie,

Mother Teresa was a very wise woman. I've liked those quotes of hers
which I've seen. Perhaps I'll search for some to add here.
Thanks

Here's today's quote - I think he may well be right! :-)

Whenever two people meet, there are really six people present. There is each man as he sees himself, each man as the other person sees him, and each man as he really is.

A couple of cat quotations today, for no better reason than that I liked them,
and I like cats a lot! :-)

"Women and cats will do as they please. Men and dogs had better get used to it."
........Robert Heinlein

"In a cat's eyes, all things belong to cats."
....... English Proverb

Some of these ancient philosophers really knew what they were
talking about, didn't they?

Life is short, art long, opportunity fleeting, experience treacherous, judgment difficult.

Just found this one - haven't heard of Frank Tibolt before, but he certainly
knows what he's talking about.

We should be taught not to wait for inspiration to start a thing. Action always generates
inspiration. Inspiration seldom generates action.
