To the man who threw out his wife's shoes ...

So you threw out your wife's shoes, making the um ... honest ... mistake of thinking they were garbage?

Now how do you tell her?

1. DO NOT say that you thought they were garbage and threw them away. Bad enough calling her precious shoes trash. Moreover ... men NEVER take out the garbage ... she will immediately suspect you of something much worse.

2. DO NOT use this as an excuse in the future for not taking out the garbage.

3. DO NOT try to replace the shoes yourself. Period. You know nothing about shoes.

4. DO be prepared to suffer. You will be reminded about this for years to come.

5. DO organise finance for a loan for at least a couple of thousand. This is going to cost you, big time!

6. DO NOT use this as an excuse in the future for not taking out the garbage. I know I said this before, but you never listen properly.

My advice, book a lovely restaurant (better make it Japanese or similar where you don't wear shoes), and let her know that you are taking her out for a very special meal.   When she has almost finished dressing, say ... "Darling, I did the strangest thing today .... " and let her discover her shoe cupboard is empty.  She'll kick your butt, but at least it won't hurt you so much with her feet bare.
