If you own a rental property, a holiday home or if you simply don't have a lot of time, don't despair. It is still possible to have a beautiful garden.
A very simple way to choose very low or no-maintenance plants for your garden is to have a look around your own neighborhood.
What is growing on the sidewalk, or in parks or on traffic islands? If you are near a forest, what sort of plants are growing there? Ask your neighbors, visit the library or get on-line to find out which of the plants are native. Then plant those.
These plants are surviving with little or no help in exactly the same environment as your garden. By researching and planting the same, you will end up with not only a low maintenance garden, but also an attractive haven for local birds.
