When I first decided to utilize my talents by working from home with my own business, I had a lot of support.
UNTIL...................
I told everyone that I was going to do affiliate & MLM marketing! Boy did I get an earful then! Everyone from my Family, Friends and Co-workers told me:
YOU WILL NEVER MAKE A LIVING DOING THAT
ALL MLMS ARE SCAMS
BETTER STAY WITH YOUR "REAL" JOB
BETTER JUST OPEN A LOCAL STORE FRONT
and on and on!
Well I  thought why should I keep working, making someone else rich?
Why should I limit myself to local customers when I had the billions of prospective customers at  my finger tips via the internet?
Plus that I already had a home office which meant none of the overhead a "traditional" office would cost!
      I DON'T  I said to myself!
I then proceeded to look for just the right business/product to promote/sell so I could prove all those "nay-sayers" wrong!
My first two trys were a bust, but I believed in myself and I knew if I kept on tryin, eventually I would succeed. I am kind of stubborn that way, lol
I decided to try my hand at Affiliate Marketing, then remembered those 2 businesses that had failed and decided to start a website where I could list all types of business opportunities and do my affiliate marketing from the same website. Of course I had to research each Business opp before placing on my website to be sure they were on the "up & up" .
Thus Hillynut.com was born and has since grown from 2 pages to several and  has everything now from just Business Opps & to Insurance, Travel, Free Advertising, Networking sites, shopping, Marketing systems, my Affiliate advertising and alot more. It seems that I get new ideas for content constantly. From those I meet via networking and affiliate marketing.
I not only make money from Affiliate marketing but it lead me to alot of great people. Two of whom helped me get started in my first perfect on-line business!
It has everything I was looking for:
Quality Products people would use everyday and continue to re-order both locally & on-line.
A Stabel Parent Company that gives it Distributors continuing support and listens to our ideas, even implements some of them!
A great Pay Plan
Minimal investment
Products that are safer for both the consumer & our environment!
Then more good things began to happen.................
A Lady I used to work with, called me up and asked me if I would be willing to call Businesses for her and  set appointments for her to go in and quote them on insurance needs.She gave me everything I asked for!
I work from the comfort of my own home, at my own pace. She pays me hourly plus per appt. So I make great money and only put in  hours a week !
Then Viola! Anothe terrific business opportunity presented itself to me on Sept 1rst! It also has everything I wanted in a home business!
Things are going so well for me now. I just love hearing all those "Nay-Sayers" telling everyone they know how well I am doing with my own businesses! This Jan, 2008, I am going to be incorporating into an LTD corporation! Which will open up a whole new world of possibilites for me!
So you see.........DREAMS CAN & DO COME TRUE!
As long as you WORK HARD AND BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!

Collette, You do a great job communicating the problem experienced by so many.... But remember the primary Objective.. You are what people "buy", not the product, pay plan, opportunity... So only advertise yourself, lead them into a relationship and your leadership skills will draw them to the bottom of the Sales Funnel... A very loyal customer and Associate is Born!

Hi Collette, This is a great post! I feel like you're talking about my experience. It can be difficult convincing folks who aren't into this type of business that it can be rewarding. They usually hear the word affiliate and get that strange look in their eyes lol... At the beginning of this year, I had an instructor from a business development course I took warn the entire class to stay far away from affiliate marketing because they are all scams. I was not impressed to say the least, and it did not make me the most popular person in the class when I disagreed with his statement... ;0) However, despite what the nay sayers may think, I wholeheartedly believe that if you believe in yourself enough to pursue your dreams, you will eventually meet success. Hello Richard Thanks for the kind words. You and Cheryl hang in there. There is money to be made on the internet, but what a lot of people do not realize is that it is like any other business, it takes time to build a good solid client base, alot of people give up and move to another business before they see any results. But I am stubborn and wont budge LOL. The only difference between a traditional business and an on-line business is there is little to NO overhead with an on-line business. That is if you get into the correct one,lol But that's another story all together. I also just opened my first Store Front, We have a new trade center here in lima, Ohio and Hillynuts Health Hut is now part of that trade center. The center is only open fri 6-9, Sat 9-6 and Sun 12-5 but I am getting alot of great exposure and even have a few new local customers I would not have had otherwise! LOL its such fun to be there and meet new people. Plus that I dont have to worry about electric, gas and such as that. So VERY little over head!
