Offers

Once an
ancient Gulf it was transformed into a lake by the alluvial deposits of
the river Meander. Lake Bafa is situated at the foot of Mount Latmus.
Lake Bafa is close to Didim which
became a town in 1991 it is set on a peninsula surrounded by Mugla and
Akbuk in the east, the Aegean Sea in the south, Lake Bafa and the
Meander River in the north.
The area is noted for many historical
places to visit such as the ancient cities of Didyma, Miletos and
Priene. Didim and Altinkum are now joined together and the latter has
become a popular holiday resort for Europeans with its sandy beaches
that shelve into the sea, numerous restaurants, cafes, bars and shops..
The
natural beauty of Dilek Peninsula, the Meander delta, Lake Bafa and the
60km long coastal line with hundred of coves make the area enchanting.
Lake
Bafa - As the sun rises, so the lake's islands become visible, the
biggest of which are Ikiz Island, Menet Island and Kahve Asar Island.
Travellers using public transport are advised to get off at the sign
marked 'Ceri'nin Yeri', this is a simple, clean restaurant with basic
camping-pension facilities and a small boat which can be hired for a
tour of the lake, or to take you to Herakleia. Directly
opposite the restaurant are the remains of a Byzantine monastery,
originally built on an islet. It is now possible to wade out to it (or
have the boat ferry you across) as the water level of the lake is low
in the summer.
