Understanding How Outsourcing Can Help Your Business

by Aika Anderson

For businesses in every scale, whether a large corporation, a
medium-sized or a small business, outsourcing is recognized as an
effective way to lighten a company’s workload and save its resources.
Most people have the notion that outsourcing is only done by bigger
corporations who assign subsidiaries from developing countries in
manufacturing their products. These corporations save a vast amount of
financial resource because materials, labor costs, lease of
infrastructures are simply much cheaper overseas than in the United
States.
However, outsourcing these days has expanded into a variety of
levels that even average-sized or small businesses can enjoy the
benefits outsourcing can give. There are many outsourcing providers
which specialize in servicing private enterprises and

small companies. Another kind of job outsourcing is called domestic
outsourcing, which means the owning company and its subsidiary are both
located in the same country. Although the job is not done overseas,
this type of outsourcing still cuts down the expenditures. This is
especially true with the case of freelance contractors.

Nevertheless, there are is also a huge number of freelancers residing
overseas adding up to the popularity and recognition of global
outsourcing.
Why should you consider outsourcing?

As an employer, you can hire a contractor with competitive skills and
the expertise needed for a particular job at a lesser cost. Hiring
freelancers who work on per contract basis saves a great deal of money
for the employer since it liberates him from paying for their social
security, Medicare, and other benefits that entitles a regular
employee.
Along with this, an employer has the option to hire as many
freelancers he needs without necessarily employing too many in-house
personnel. Most of the time, outsourced workers are extremely reliable
and capable in doing their jobs because they are more focused on their
field of expertise.
In addition, hiring workers on per contract bases gives more
flexibility especially for retailers and manufacturers whose business
is very dependent on producing just enough to fulfill the orders they
receive. There is no need to be troubled about backlog and lack of
available manpower because these workloads can always be entrusted to
an appointed contractor or outsourcing provider.
Whether you choose to hire the services of an outsourcing agency or
a freelancer, you are bound to save significant amount in finances by
cutting labor costs, increasing workforce and making more prospects
available. Then again, there are certain points to remember when
outsourcing:
• Above all, identify which of your internal tasks need to be
outsourced. Making a list of all your in-house activities will help
give you a better insight over which task will benefit the most from
outsourcing. Group together the tasks which are interrelated since it
will not be a good idea to separate them. Whether you choose to
outsource these tasks or leave it in-house, it would be better if
related activities are performed side-by-side. When you’ve completed
your list of functions, prioritize which ones need your individual
attention, and which ones can be entrusted to an outsourcer. What jobs
are safe to outsource? Usually, tasks like payroll, data entry,
transcription and other repetitive activities which can tedious will be
the best ones to outsource.
