Becoming an Internet Marketer: The Right Reasons
It's very easy to be dazzled by the constant bombardment of websites and Marketers emails telling you of the thousands of dollars others are making every day, week, or month by working at home on the Internet. It sounds great doesn`t it, most people are sick to death of working for someone else so it seems the perfect thing to do ... however there's something about being an Internet Marketer we hear very little about. It's VERY hard work! Did you notice in the latest sales letter you were dazzled with, the promises you can make thousands of dollars in a mere 30 days? Did you see how they all seem to have pictures of flashy cars and dollar bills conveniently displayed ohhh ... and promises that "You Can Join Free!! Totally Automated!! Just sit back and wait for the checks!!" Did anyone mention the sacrifices you'll have to make, like not going to the grocery store until you make a sale? Did they happen to tell you that the only way you`ll make money is if your downline starts spending money every month (the same people who joined FREE and DO NOT want to spend money) Did you realize that while your off promoting "your business" ... your not at all? I doubt it even occured to you that your promoting THEIR business, not YOURS at all. If you're thinking of making this your livelihood, there's one thing you'll have to get before you'll be successful. You'll absolutely have to get "real". Before you dive into the woorld of Internet Marketing, you need to ask yourself some serious questions and be prepared to come up with some serious answers. Firstly, do you like this type of work, or is it the dollar signs in all those sales letters you love most? While technology has definately made things alot easier online and much cheaper to open an Internet "Business" than a brick and mortar storefront, the work involved certainly isn`t any easier. You will still work very long hours doing backbreaking and mind-numbing work, make tons of sacrifices, and wonder what the heck you were thinking. The more you learn about Internet Marketing ... the more you NEED to learn. If this is your niche however, and you believe in what you are doing and actually enjoy it most days, then almost no amount of sacrifice is too much. You'll be working hard to build something you may have dreamed about for years. You'll do all the research necessary to launch the best website and/or storefront you can and you'll be willing to constantly learn new things. You will have researched the market, you will know your target audience, you will have designed an optimized website and yet you're still looking for ways to improve your business. That's how success stories are made. Even after you've done all the work to have the best product and site available, you'll then have to turn yourself into an entire marketing department and vigorously market your site to keep traffic moving. After all this ... well it`s just about the time you get it all figured out. Now you will have to start updating your site and start the entire process over again. Don`t think for a minute you can just "set & forget" your website, technology moves so fast it`s easy to be left behind. You can of course, "automate" alot of tasks but the truth is, you first have to learn to use the tools to do this ... this can take quite a long time to do. Don't forget, YOU are the entire customer service department also. Sometimes you'll need to handle customer complaints, be prepared to give refunds, answer questions and remember, the customer is always right. Are you really ready for all this? There's no doubt though, that whatever sacrifices (within reason of course) you have to make to make your "Internet Marketer Dream" come true are worth it. You simply cannot compare the feeling you get from working for somebody else ... and working FOR YOU. As long as your prepared and have some idea of what you are getting into, along with the resolve to do what it takes, you CAN enjoy the success you've always dreamed of. | Hi Christopher
Great article. There are too many people online following the GURU type marketing and it refreshing to see someone exposing the truth. Still there are great opportunities online if people decide they are prepared to do the hard yards. Christopher I have a bad back and can't do real work, that's why for most of my life I had my own businesses. Several years ago I ended up in a situation where I had little option but to make a living working online from home. So I know first hand if you are willing to put in the hard work success can be achieved. Again great article My favorite communities and traffic programs http://www.networking.love-au.com/ |

| Christopher, I dont know how I missed your blog the first time round. It is a masterpiece. Pearls of wisdom - of course if your downline doesnt spend you dont earn - that's is the essence of most network marketing schemes. Either that - or you have to sell the hell out your product! No sales, no comissions . If there are commissions for just recruiting without sales - it is probably an illegal ponzi or pyramid scheme in disguise as a networking opportunity! And if you dislike selling and recruiting - then it is possibly not for you. So as you rightly say - time to get real. If you like this kind of business and are willing to invest the time without earning at first and then continue to run it - ok - it might be for you - but if you think it is going to be an easy alternative to going out and working for someone else or yourself outside the house - be prepared for a big disappointment. There are lots of ways to use the internet to help you market products , services and earn a living - network marketing is not the only way - but they all take work, and dedication and an investment (even the free-est to join programmes).
