Life and a big family

by Marion Ross
I never imagined that I would one day be the mother of 8 beautiful children, 7 sons and 1 daughter and then 21 years ago, three terrific step children too!

What an experience it has been, one of great growth, of learning the depths of great love, and knowing that one person can love a variety of human beings each for their own special and unique ways. I am so grateful that I was chosen to be mother to these great people and life’s journey took me along the path of a large family. The experience has been truly a rich and rewarding one..

My oldest son turned 40 this year and my youngest will be 26. My daughter April ....the only girl, born no 5 child ...can you guess on April Fools day (at 8.30pm at night) my gorgeous and wondrous girl now mother to 3 girls and a son. Fifteen incredible grandchildren, sadly there were 16 however we lost 8 month old Krystal on March 27th 2007 after open heart surgery and an almost 6 week struggle for life. An angel for her brief time here.

One thing I have learned is that when times are tough, provided there is love, people –pull together in the most incredible ways and if you delegate tasks not only do things get done, but children grow and flourish and learn responsibility and independence.

If I have no other experience in life, that of being a mother to a large family will be the most joyous and rewarding of all time. It made and continues to make me, a better me !

Seize the day!
