Attraction Marketing

by Warren Contreras Old Retired Guy
I'm reasonably sure that anyone reading this blog post
is familiar with all the free online advertising
resources such as the all too familiar Spam emails,
Classified Ads, FFA pages, Banners, Text Ads, Traffic
Exchanges, Worthless Newsletters, Guaranteed Visitors,
Pop-ups, other 'In-Your-Face' Ads, and the list goes
on and on.

The question I would like you to consider is this, when
you see this kind of stuff yourself, what's your usual
'Frame of Mind'?

My guess is you know what's coming and your shields go
up. You pull up your waders and trudge on through,
oblivious to the thousands of messages ricocheting off
your armor just so you can collect a few more exposures
for your own website or offer. With Millions of would
be online marketers doing this hour after hour and day
after day, is it any wonder that the Internet slows
down to a crawl and even stops at times?

So what if you could put your message on hold for a
time when your potential prospects have finished their
'Direct Advertising' chores. They have returned to
their search for new ideas online, a time when they are
now open to checking things out. Instead of shoving
your material in their face, they come looking for you
to see what you are doing. Maybe even ask a few
questions. Kind of like stopping off for a cold one
with the gang after work.

The online equivalent to this scene is being played out
today and every day and you can participate for free.
It's called 'Social Networking' or even more
appropriately for us, 'Business Networking' and is
probably why you're here.

Those that visit your profile know that they're on a
Business Network and know you're here because you have
something to sell. So surprise them and tell a little
about yourself instead of the normal pitch they're used
to seeing.

Now, think about what 'Frame of Mind' you would be in
if you dropped by a potential friends profile and
decided to click a few blog articles and groups they
have started or belong to, just trying to gain more
insight into their personality. You might even be led
to considering an alliance or joint venture with them.
Can you see the difference?

You're no longer perceived as a 'Pushy Salesman' but a
'Fellow Businessperson' with common interests. Chamber
of Commerce 'Mixers' have been an example of this
approach for years and been very successful. Now you
can accomplish nearly the same thing for your home
business from your own computer.

There are facilities to search out those you have a
common connection with and they have already given you
permission to subtilty contact them by virtue of being
a member. Blatant advertising is counter-productive and
will only succeed in getting you blocked, so think
about how you can attract those you identify as worthy
candidates to build stronger relationships for mutual
benefit.

So now it's all up to you. Continue contributing to the
degradation of Internet bandwidth with the huge numbers
of attempts required (many not ever reaching the
desired target) to get a single response, or try
something new. My Grandma always said, "You can catch a
lot more flies with honey than you can with vinegar any
day".

I've been watching this develop over the past five years and I'm glad it's finally made it. Social networking works whether you're building a downline or a romantic relationship. It all has to start with mutual understanding and friendship and grows from there.
What you give away, you get to keep. If you really want to have your
dreams come true, contribute to someone else's dreams and they
will. It works like a charm.

LOL at "My Grandma always said, "You can catch a

My great grandfather use to say the can't died in the corn field.

I ran a vinegar advert;) Did you see that one?

The main problem with traffic exchanges is that it doesn't bring new people into the busisness.

I hate pop ups but perhpaps I should be using them indirectly?

Do you do stuff offline as well? And when was the last time you used an FFA? I think I used one for old times sake about 3 months ago.

Hi Buddy,

You are quite right.

That's why I invite everyone to sell their fish on my group. Then when they get that off their chest, they can look around and hopefully contribute something for the good of all. A bit like you have in this blog, for example.

Great post,
This one needs to be digged out of the archives, and hopefully by commenting i can bring some more readers.
This applies today even more so with all the blank profiles floating around, not to mention the ones that is one big banner farm.
